Deep Purple got a hold of Drumeo's video of Tosh Peterson hearing "Fireball" for the first time without drums and laying down his version of a drum beat. Here is Ian's reaction to this fresh take on his beat!

Fun Fact: Ian was the same age as Tosh when he recorded the original track with Deep Purple. You're seeing a true full-circle moment in the drumming world!

The greatest complement is when Ian says "oh I never though of doing that. That's cool!"
That is probably one of the best things a musician can hear from an original composser.

As always, Mr. Paice is the gentleman, kind, humble and supportive. Full of encouragement wanting the best for each and every player he touches. He was like that with me personally too. God Bless you and your family Mr. Paice.

So, for those who don't know the format: drummers come into Drumeo studio, and they are given a song they've "never" heard before. What the drummer hears is a track with the drums erased out of it, so they have to guess what the drum part would be. Can turn into some really interesting results, especially since they pick songs that are necessarily out of the drummer's wheelhouse (in order to find a song they don't have familiarity with). Kudos to Ian for the reaction video. Was fun to watch! :) Would be really cool if Drumeo could get some of your time. ;)

A high bar. Ian created speed metal with this song, eight years before there was a name for speed metal.

The wife and I seen Deep Purple in 1985 at the Texas jam with our two boys ages 4 and 2. Didn't have enough for tickets so we sat outside in the grass listening to the show when someone walked by and said the gates were open. We grabbed the boys and went in and stood just a few yards from the stage and watched Deep Purple play 2 songs and 1 encore.

Imagine having a legend like Ian Paice react positively to your drumming of one of his songs….. that’s better than winning a grammy!

I cherish the stick you threw to me at Asbury Park NJ first tour with Steve. At the end of the show I was in the first row and you looked right at me and I knew it was coming. You threw high and I leaped like never before and caught it! Thx so much we love you!!!!

What a big difference in performance, in a sense of rhythm, virtuosity, Ian Pace is one of the few drum kit performers to whom I bow low. Respect and long life. I was born in the former Soviet Union myself💯👍👌
