Legenden unter sich. Birth Control kenne ich seit den Anfängen, live inzwischen bald 3 Jahrzehnte immer wieder. Hugo habe ich kürzlich bei einer Session getroffen, immer noch ein klasse Drummer. Pete York, seit der Spencer Davis Group auch hier im STARPALAST in Kiel in den 60igern, der TV-Serie "Super Drumming" und dann in diversen eigenen Formationen live erlebt, grandios und einer meiner Drum-Heroes ever. Das Battle hätte ich stundenlang hören können. Kompliment an Beide, sie können es ohne Frage immer noch "at it's best" Vielen Dank! Es ist immer eine Freude euch zu treffen.

Hugo hat oft mit meinen RTL AllStars Drums gespielt... unsere Hochzeit, Familienfest, als Stargast bei Events... (legendär: "Wipe Out") er ist einfach ein Allrounder- Genie und ein großartiger Musikant.... ganz abgesehen davon, dap er ein TOLLER MENSCH ist

Habe die Spencer Davies Group im Sommer '74 in einem Londoner Club gesehen. Waren die cool! Ich (15) kannte die damals nicht und bin sofort in His Masters Voice rein und habe mir eine Platte von denen gekauft. Pete York wohnt meines Wissens in meiner Nähe in Starnberg.

Toll Hugo mal an den Trommeln zu sehen. Klar das er aus der Übung ist aber Pete York ist ein Gigant. Birth Control ist immer noch ein Hammer!

When I was in my 20s, through contacts I had previously made, I had been invited to play the drums at a music festival because the resident drummers wife was about to give birth to their first child, and he wanted to be there. I actually ended up playing for 2 bands at the festival. Among the artists appearing were Baker-Gervitz Army, Kokomo, and Rufus with Chaka Khan. After the gig, It seemed I had gained somewhat of a reputation and that same week Iwas feted around the music scene in London, I was brought to Abbey Road Studios, and I also helped set up the studio in the BBC building where "The Old Grey Whistle Test" used to be recorded ready for a radio show which was to feature a drum battle. Sound check, three drum kits, one of the drummers is missing. I had heard that the kits belonged to Ian Paice, Pete york and someone else whose name I don't recall. In walk Ian Paice, and Pete York who both wanted to rehearse. "We can't wait all day for him. Hey, your a drummer aren't you? Get behind the kit and help us out"!!! I was a cocky young lad, and I knew I could do the job, but my mouth went dry, I was shaking and sweating so much, I thought the sticks might slip out of my hands. Anyway, both guys were super generous, we had a great time, and I still remember to this day some nearly 40 years on, some of the fills we played. It is indelibly etched in my memory what a thrill, although to be honest, at the time it seemed a bit of a blur.

Die Nummer "Fred a Chair (angelehnt anFred Astaire)" von Pete York ist phänomenal. Er war in den Achtzigern Begleitmusiker von Konstantin Wecker mit Mega-Besetzung: Johannes Faber, Charlie Mariano, Wolfgang Dauner, Bernd Haffner, Colin Hodgkinson.

Viel zu kurz, aber genial. Pete York (mit und ohne Birth Control) ist sowieso eine Legende und Hugo Egon Balder kann trommeln.

Irgendwie hat Hugo Egon nicht gecheckt was ein Drumbattle ist 😅
Gut okay... Wenn man gegen sein Vorbild und Jugendhelden antritt, kann es schonmal vorkommen dass man in dem Moment völlig planlos ist.
