Surprised you didn't mention the Countess in high persuasion. You start with a water and, with the ring, you can do Research Station and get 3 card draws, which is way more influence (on average) than the 1 point reduction of Helena, the 2 card draw mentat Count move (which then requires playing one of those 2 cards), or Paul's anemic 1 card draw. Pulling a 7-8 point influence buy on Round 1 isn't unreasonable with the Countess.

Wow. I've played this game at surface level for over a year and in my group, I'm pretty dominant at it. I'd get slaughtered in a tournament. Good insights here.
