Single had spey setup for your Euro rod. I haven't found another rod that is as well suited for this combination as the Beulah G2 Platinum 10'8" 3 weight. It has a stiffer more responsive tip and really seems to be the best fit for a Double Threat rig.

I just ordered the full setup from you guys a few days ago because of this video. The idea of having that kind of versatility is very exciting.

I use my 10ft 3wt Sage Pulse to do this exactly! Sage Trout 678 provides perfect balance and closed frame. I use 25lb amnesia for running/tight line mono. I also love to attach a 10 or so foot leader directly to the shooting head for indicator fishing the top 10 feet of water. Works like a dream when fishing high alpine lakes with no back cast room.

Top notch. I watched this when it came out, now I will be implementing.

Nice informative video. I have one request; try to frame the shot so that it shows the cast. I’m working on my casts and I’ve found it useful to the casts of experienced fishermen to see the speeds, motion of the wrist and arms, the flight of the line, and the final landing. It is particularly informative when the video is NOT about casting because I think you witness the actual normal everyday casts. Thanks

I’m experimenting with a 5ft skagit head on a light mono rig for browns in a spring creek fir getting streamers way out there. These browns are tough to catch right now so the further you can cast and stay back from the fish the better. I’m still playing around with it. So far the best technique for the low clear shallow water browns is to run a 0.007” mono rig with very heavy jig type streamers to get long casts. This technique is actually producing very big fish. It’s just a hard way to fish unless you really stay up on your game. Your video is absolutely intuitive and interesting!!You have my wheels turning and giving me some new ideas.

I use a RIO euro nymph shorty to swap out with the OPST commando head. It allows me to run a more traditional euro leader and fish the tiny euro nymphs easily with a quick change set up.

Great idea for that unique Beulah rod! Love your content Joe!

I have the 175 OPST head and would love to try it on this rod with either the crystal bugger jig or Rio's gold jigger. I'm glad Joe shared how to interchange the head to use running line fir euro. Also good tip on lamson reel. Didn't know it was full caged.

Super helpful, especially to have all the products linked under the description.

However… I did not see the versa leader over there. I’ll try to Google it or Amazon it.

Thank you.

I also use a similar approach with an 11' 7 weight switch road to swing down a section and then pick apart runs with a crystal meth/emerald shiner euro rig back up to my truck.

Fantastic idea and going to put this into practice

I'd love to see what a set up would be on a TFO Drift rod and how it fishes. I have one of those rods and want to Skagit fish but I'm reluctant on pulling the trigger.

Good idea, I've been trying to figure out a quick change from euro to streamers. A few of my local rivers transition from nymphing riffles to deeper pools with drop offs. It's necessary to carry 2 rods most of the time. Not a problem when I'm floating but on foot it's a pain.

I've been doing this on the 6 weight 10'8" Thomas and Thomas Contact II for awhile. It works great. But tight line nymphing for Steelhead is better than swinging imo, and way more effective.

Recently caught my first salmon on a single handed 7w on my local small river with a skagit setup, was curious if the lighter heads would work on my guideline lps 9.9 3w euro rod so gonna try that now :)

I run a mono rig off of a 4wt floating line on my 11’ 3wt euro rod, but I’ll probably ditch the floating line for a skagit head.
