In this week’s episode, a 1950s single-storey, semi-detached home in Serangoon Gardens, Singapore, showcases a thoughtful restoration that preserves its original charm. The home spans a 430-square-metre plot and holds sentimental value for its owner, who grew up there. After living overseas, she returned with her husband, opting to restore the house rather than rebuild. PI Architects led the project, drawing design inspiration from experiences in Singapore, Denmark, and Hong Kong.

This house has the sense of home and feels lived in. Traces of the people that live in it without feeling staged or overly cluttered. It makes the house have a feeling of nostalgia and warmth. Superb job by the architects that managed to design a house with practicality while still retaining their design flair

I love single storey houses.
The nearest in the North (Woodlands) is at jalan bumbong, after Kranji MRT. There are quite many.

I CANNOT AFFORD IT. Selling at $3-4 million> the area is too quiet and scary at night. 😅

Thoughtfully refurbished with clever use of skylights; most of such single storey houses tend to be poorly lit due to lack of windows. The original architecture is charmingly preserved.
