A Rules Review and Play Through of Splendor

An updated video for Splendor. A big thanks to alioolio for catching a mistake in my first upload!! Enjoy!

You know, you took the whole "board game introduction" videos to the whole new level. I'm gonna quickly tell you why:

First of all: you play the game with the thought process of a player, not a teacher. You just play the game, take your time on commenting on everything without any rush.

Second of all: you show your emotions that the game causes, which is another great thing, because personally what I really want to know about the game beside the rules is what it feels like to play it, not only know how to play it.

And third of all: your passion for the game is really showing. When watching any video of yours it's easy to tell what you like about the game: what aspects of it intrigue you, what makes you feel excited, etc, etc. I guess it's much like the second point I wrote about, but without that passion it wouldn't be the same.

That's all, I sure hope you'll be making lots and lots of these videos, because now I know that the only place that will tell me whether or not I will like the game is your channel.

My non-gaming husband and I got a chance to play this at Dice Tower Con and he loved it!  It was an immediate buy for me.

One little thing you forgot in the rules, you ca also reserve a card from the draw piles. You can pick blindly the first card of any pile (level 1, 2 or 3) and even keep it from the other players. They don't have to know what you may get. Otherwise, great video!

Okay came across this by accident while searching for something and end up watching the whole thing despite already knowing how to play this game!.. You explain the game very well by the way!

Never in all the games I played has anyone ever called them mines.. and I will have to check the rule book more for curiousity's sake then anything...when I find the game... which we played very recently but it's gone into hiding at the moment! LOL

Also we have always just put the reserved cards off to the side and put them sideways to indicate they have not been bought yet, this seems to be the way that most people teach the game and I never thought it wasn't... it may be a preference thing though, it seems to keep your hands free and easier to do things without always setting them down to do so?

I don't get the thought of taking 2 of the same color in the beginning? Wouldn't you be better off if u take one of each color so u get 3 total? you will still get 2 of the same color after 2 turns, just more gems in total?

Just wanted to kindly point out that at 38:20 you spend wrong chips to buy the ruby development card, using extra blue, and not using a black chip.

If I am purchasing a card that requires say, 1 Blue, 1 Green and 1Red and I have in my hand 1 Blue card, 1 Green token and 1 Green card, and 1 Red card, can I keep my Green token and just “use” my 1 Green card?

you can't get two gems and then buy a card, you can only do ONE action a turn. Just a heads up!
