How to install a smart switch

Warning: If you have an older house the wall box may be too small to fit a 3 times larger switch and the extra connector caps. Then you have to put the old switch back or tear up your wall for a new box.

You spoke about the neutral wire but what do I do with the neutral wire that’s sticking out of my smart switch? You didn’t mention anything about what to do with that?

I recently bought the GE motion-sensing, dimmer, 3-way smart switch that looks almost like the unit in this video and installed it and got it connected via the C and GE App, but the lights don't work. When I called GE support, that's when I found out that both 3-ways have to be smart switches. But, my other switch can't be converted because it's part of a double light switch (over-under, like a double plug outlet) and GE doesn't make a smart switch in that configuration.


However, the tech I spoke to said there was a way to install the 3-way smart switch with a 3-way analog switch and get it to work, but it wasn't supported so he couldn't tell me how to do it. He couldn't even tell me which switch wiring I needed to modify to get it to work!


Is it possible that you guys know how to make this work??

Why would you show only the green wire and not the other wires some people are stupid I mean I'm not one of those people but dang you could have showed for the others

I demand you remove drywall to install hardwired smoke alarms and co2 alarms. Do not rely on wireless technology to opperate SD's. Too much potential interference!

Most of you just need to hire an electrician
