How To Install Ecobee Thermostat Premium (New 2022 Version)

In this video we teach you how to install the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium. The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium was launched in the summer of 2022 and is a wifi smart thermostat that allows you to remotely control it from your phone.

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium is unique in that it has both Alexa built in and a built in Air quality sensor that can monitor the air quality in your home.

Perfect. Thank you. I was a little concerned because I've never done this before and the instructions just told me to remove jumpers. Then there is no more mention of them except to say there's only a wire in Rc(The jumper was in R and Rc). This video helped me to understand what each wire does and feel confident in my installation.

One of the first considerations is “Is my thermostat clise to a register?” If yes, please consider plugging the wall mount cavity, out of which the wires extend, with plumbers putty. In my case, the putty finally prevented temperatures from the surrounding wall from messing with the Ecobee. The Heating would come on and roar through the floor vents for an hour, even when it reached the desired Hold speed. The solution came was reached after 3 HVAC company visits and two calls to the Ecobee customer service. During my last call to Ecobee, a rep asked how clise the register was to the thermostat (1.5 feet above the register). The rep kindly guided me through the steps and sent a video to show what the completed step should look like. I bought some putty for under $5. The video showed the wires Nicky spaced apart, but my wires are densely grouped together. I had to used an unused WD40 straw to meticulously pack the putty in. After about two hours of doing this, periodically using a finger to press down on the whole mass, an effective seal finally was formed. Now, when the heat turns on, it runs at an acceptable flow for 10-15 minutes.

10:59 For mine, it didn't detect a wire in G even though it was there and I made sure it was secure. It allowed me to manually say it was there... ? Like if you don't detect it, why is me saying "Trust me" ok?

Thank you! For some reason I had an extra brown connected on the W2 and kept me from getting heat. It would turn on and then it turn off with no heat. I took the brown cable off the w2 and it worked! Heating turned on. Thank you!

Shouldn’t you trim the wires tips so the sheathing is close to covering the bare wire so the bare tips don’t short out against each other..?

This is an awesome video, straight forward, the only thing I would add is there is a mounting plate in the box just in case the previous thermostat mounting needs to be covered or painted, Saves tons of time and hassle to just use the back plate.
