Learning how to control slugs can massively help your gardening and harvests and save endless lost crops due to slug damage. In the United Kingdom we have several slug species that damage crops and one that is actually beneficial to the gardener. Understanding slugs and their habitats and which slugs are likely to damage which crops gives the gardener an advantage when it comes to combating slugs.

Thank you for the reminder about the parasite 🦠. I tell people that all the time too. I found a slug the other day 🤬🤬 already. I use beer traps too and hand picking (with gloves). Great update Jase, have a fab weekend, Ali 🥶🇨🇦

Hello Jason* my slugs are small yellow one's & large dark brown one's, , , they seem to swarm nightly near the house. A few year's ago we made a Nature Pond which is inhabited by 🐸 s, this has made a big difference to the number of slugs* As you have said, I'm not a fan of slug pellets or chemicals because we have 3 beautiful cats* I totally get your scissor method, , i usto keep a metal spike which i wondered around the garden with a torch & spiked the buggers, , they are The Gardener's Worst Nightmare! Hi Jason, I did try Nematodes and nothing else has ever lessened the slug population to same extent. But as you mentioned it's very costly as you need to buy it for at least three times in the growing season. So I've used the beer traps for last couple of years, it's not as effective but it's a lot cheaper

My chickens don't like slugs, i may have spoiled them too much 😁

I have an awful slug problem with Potatoes 80% of my crop has slug damage which is very demoralising as its my favourite crop and i have used nematodes for 2 years even adding double the recommended amount for the Area i grow on and there has been no let up, also tried a few beer traps and nothing in them either. What do you suggest 😂. Many thanks

leopard slugs also eat worms I've seen them in my garden with half-eaten worms underneath them also don't get chickens ducks are way better
