We should definitely call the AVENGERS.

This should be taken more seriously 1 in 10 chance 😮

Just tell the asteroid 'no'. It legally can't collide with your planet without your consent.

Here's what I wonder when they talk about an asteroid that they think will come within 19, 000 miles of Earth in 10 years time but not collide. To come to that conclusion they must have modeled the path of our planet and the path of the asteroid and roll it forward in time. But surely that assumes that during those future paths, nothing else collides with that asteroid. Were all the other asteroids modeled too? It only takes one 25 metre (non-tracked) asteroid to collide with that 340 metre asteroid to change it's path by 0.00001 degrees to cause the path to change and become collidable.

this is interesting in the show Salvation they talked about something similar to deflect asteroids.

9 days away of the event happy to be alive to see this

What if hitting the “test” asteroid creates a chain reaction colliding with another asteroid that comes toward earth😨

i'm thinking that, if they don't know the composition of an earthbound asteroid, they don't know how it's going to react. it might break up into many pieces, making things worse, no?

If an asteroid MUST be blown up, its axis of rotation must be stopped. Then a new spin must be started, with it's new axis of rotation pointed directly at Earth. Very slowly at first, so that you've precisely established where that axis is. Then drill down that axis, and plant the nuke. Then get the asteroid spinning as fast as possible. Arm the nuke, blow it up. The force of the explosion plus the inertia of the spin should throw all of the pieces clear of the Earth.

Please don't sue me if it doesn't work.

That looked like an explosion from rocket not asteroid lol

Seems like a better Return on Investment than sending people to Mars. Wouldn't T-Rex still be around if he had the brain to build an asteroid diversion system?
