Acceleration is indeed the biggest culprit but it's also the surge in power and rpm that actually provides the fun element.

Thank you sir. No bombastic editing, no complex vocabulary. Just explaining things in very simple language with calming tone. Your explanation is really soothing 😌

Great Points, thank you - Some other items 1. Clean spark plug with proper gap adjustment 2. Replace normal spark plugs every 10000 kms or as per recommendation, If it is iridium tipped it can last for much longer time and produce better sparks 3. Proper Chain slack adjustment and cleaning and lubrication frequently. Tight chain can cause friction and very loose chain comes with risk of it coming out 4. Understanding torque delivery, Riding at RPMs higher than the RPM at which peak torque is produced leads to less mileage. Hard revving beyond this peak torque RPM leads to making more sound and higher fuel consumption. If a motorcycle makes max torque at 7000rpm, pushing it beyond this results in higher fuel consumption and is pointless. 5. Riding at higher speed leads to increased fuel consumption due to wind drag. This will be more with naked bikes 6. Using synthetic oil helps with reduced carbon deposit in engine leading to better and efficient operation for longer time. Frequently checking oil level and topping up if needed 7. Check if wheels are rotating freely, at times brake pads if not maintained well might be rubbing against disks. 8. Coolant - If green coolant is used (Inorganic Acid tech.) better to drain it off and fill the radiator with fresh coolant once every 3 years or as recommended by manufacturer. Organic and Hybrid Organic Acid Tech based coolants come with higher replacement intervals. 9. Higher Octane fuel does not help with improving mileage or power. It is required to be filled for engines that come with high compression ratio or unless mentioned by manufacturer, typically more than 11:1 ratio and is designed only to avoid petrol pre-detonation. Otherwise it is just waste of money. Please fill good fuel from a reputed fuel pump. 10. If you love to ride at high RPMs please go for bikes with engines that make power/torque at higher RPMs (example: KTM duke etc.). if you prefer sedate/relaxed riding at low and mid range RPMs at sane speeds it would be better to go for bikes that make good torque early in RPM range like Honda Highness, Enfield vehicles etc. Generally Oversquare engines (Bore larger than Stroke) with 4 valves are good for higher RPM riding while the Square Engines (Bore and Stroke equal) are good for Mid Range and Under Square Engines (Bore smaller than Stroke) are good for Low to Mid range RPMs. Most commuter bikes come with Square engines (FZ, Pulsar etc.) while Honda Highness, Enfield families mostly come with Under square engines.

Experience is the Best Teacher.
While riding many Riders think they are on A Race track & not on a Trek.

And if you ride to new places far away from your city and fill up from unknown petrol pumps checking your fuel tank for water is also recommended I've had quite a few instances and riding with a gentle throttle really helps if you are looking for mileage✊

Hi from Australia. Thank you for your coveraged of the new 452 at EICMA. Subscribed :)

Yes tyre pressures are crucial. I pump mine up to max indicated on the side of the tyre. It helps a great deal. Even more so is speed 60km/h is ideal. As you double your speed you quadruple your drag from the air.

Also on my Himalayan I found the rear brake was dragging slightly. Some oil on the calipre slides fixed this.

Always try to utilize the momentum of bike while riding, overtaking..no sudden breaks no sudden acceleration.. This is what I have learned from my personal experience.

Great video as always, sir. Could you please post a video on Carburettor maintenance and tuning for optimum power and efficiency?
Thank you.

True that 👍 chain slack and tyre pressure affects fuel, Acceleration, Speed most overlooked !!! On side note back then it was much easier to squeeze a little bit extra mileage with just a flat head screwdriver... 😂

speed is the biggest enemy of mileage, for my xpulse riding on highways, if I ride under 70kmph, i get around 40kmpl, but over that, for every 10kmph i increase, i lose mileage of around 2 to 3 kmpl... great video btw cheers

Also adding a water and grime filter in the fuel tank is beneficial. I use guglatech filter on my baby GS

Higher mileage also indicates a healthier engine. So including mileage increasing tactics in riding ensures longer engine life.

You mentioned that it's recommended to maintain 70% fuel level to minimise vapour loss. Could you please elaborate on that?
