Fix a cracked or chipped windshield yourself. If you do not fix a chip in the glass as soon as possible the chip can turn into a crack overnight! It is easy and costs $10. A repair place will charge about $75 to fix the chip and a windshield can cost you over $500 to replace. This short diy video will save you time, money, and frustration!

Here is where I got the window repair kit:

Yea man! It's a good feeling when you fix your own stuff! A year later, the windshield still looks great!

It is the "glass repair kit" you get from walmart. It comes with everything. It is ~$10 and is made by GlassStar I think.

Jose Tejeda It comes as a kit. The resin is windshield resin. You can get it from Walmart, or any parts store.

Chris I just watched your multiple videos about fixing a chip in the windshield. I then went over and watched a video done by Porsche or someone affiliated with them. I want to say thank you for making a basic video that is easily understandable and NOT intimmidating. I was a few min. into the other video and turned it off. I had started questioning if I could do this with the simple equipment in a do it yourself kit. I came back over and watched this again and I know I'm more than capable. Keep up the great work! I realize by the way your first fix had much better results but that's ok too!

Thanks man! I need to make a new video showing another chip. This one came out OK. A year later and it still hasnt cracked so it worked, but I am getting comments how it didnt "disappear" which my first crack did (not on film). For $10 it is way worth it. No appointment, no $50 charge and no insurance claim.

I just love the crack on my windshield, I get distracted and entertained while driving all the time. Makes my live less boring.

You are definitely right except the sun thing. It says in the directions to put it in the sun because it is sun, curing resin. So far it has held up pretty good. Unfortunately I videoed this crack which was more complex. There is a crack to the right of this one that shows up in the video multiple times that I tested out first and you cant see it at all. Thanks for the advice!!!

Thanks man! It was $10. The first one I did before the video came out perfect! This one only came out ok. You cant even see the other one!

I agree... If you report that to your insurance, it will go up. It really isnt worth the chance and hassle unless it is a special car or something. For my truck, I just purchased it, I fixed the windshield, the chip is barely noticeable, and it is still good more than a year later... Worth my $10 and I made a how to video out of it to help others...
