After Cell knocks Vegeta unconscious, it is Trunks’s turn to step in. Enraged with the fact that his father was knocked out so easily, Trunks decides to power up and go to a power that is very interesting. Even Krillin is shocked over how high Trunks’s power is shooting. Cell immediately then stops to look at Trunks. Trunks then tells Krillin to take Vegeta back.

Pretty sure this is ultra super saiyan 2. Getting big and losing speed is a consequence pushing ss2's power. Which why is why everyone was praising gohan being able to use it without losing speed
