A Noise Cancelling Headset is a game changer. I have travelled a lot. Just turn it on even without sound, it cancels everything from crying babies to the Airplane noise.

I rip off a small stack of large post-it notes (3x5?) for a notepad in my sling. They are great for jotting down notes, but it is surprising how many times you want to stick a note to a mirror or a desk or a door for a roommate or maid service or maintenance. Need extra towels? Write a note and stick it to your hotel door. And for years, I wondered how to let the maid know that the money I left behind was a tip for them and not something I had forgotten. Now, I post-it note, "Thanks!" in whatever language and stick the money under it.

I recently got an "empty" travel pillow and packed my hoodie and rain coat inside of it. Havent flown yet but have tested it just sitting around the house and it's comfortable and soft enough, plus then I dont have to try to fit my hoodie in my bag or have it tied around me or anything!

I changed all of physical notes to digital notes, so I got em on my iPad instead!! Took me a while to get used to it but everything nowadays is digital lol. Great video Marcus!!! Do you have any suggestion on AirTag Wallets? I think it would be more comfortable for my EDC and travel as well :)

For longer flights I've started carrying a pack of Dude Wipes so I can take a bathroom 'shower' before we land and a nasal spray cause it gets so dry. Thanks for the video! Always looking for new things to make the flights more enjoyable.

So a sling has been a gamechanger for me over the last year. I use the Tomtoc compact 4 liter. After years of dragging a backpack to my seat and having it underfoot, the sling has been a revelation. Now, I carry-on the backpack and place it in the overhead and tuck the sling beneath my feet. Don't really understand why you switched to a roll-on now that you have a sling. I'm just back from Asia and mad that I didn't hear the tip to strap the the sling from the seat tray so that you don't have fumble for it until I returned this week!

How about a usb c flashlight? I’d recommend Rovyvon for the quality and light weight. Plus, some of the options will provide light while they charge from the battery bank.

I also usually carry a couple of feet of duct tape wrapped around an old credit card. It’s surprising how often I’ve used it.

Finally, I carry one of the tiny sewing kits like you sometimes find in a hotel room. I’ve used those several times as well.

Being a short person, I MUST bring a backpack with me so it can be my feet rest during the flight and be more comfortable by not slipping down the sit 😂 Nice items in your review, love the glasses!

16:50 “you can see how dinged up it is” looks flawless 😂. Great recommendations! You actually showed different products than most tech videos.

I appreciate the sling idea instead of a backpack! I will go that route on my next trip overseas. Not being able to stretch your legs due to a backpack under the seat is definitely a pain. Great video!

As someone who spends a ton of time researching how to optimize my one-bag setup, I also carry the same Swiss Army Jetsetter, amazon eye mask, and NB10000 powerbank haha. Pro-tip for the jetsetter: temporarily remove the toothpick and the tweezer from the knife before you go through security. The tweezer is extremely useful and beats out almost any camping/micro tweezer out there. Put those items in your med kit just in case your jetsetter is confiscated.

Thanks for a video without the usual products. I've never understood the iPad as a laptop with keyboard obsession that travelers maintain. A 13" ultrabook (Apple MacBook, Dell XPS 13, Lenovo Carbon X1) takes up about the same amount of combined space (actually less space overall), and then you have a full laptop instead of a tablet pretending to be one. [time passes] Saw your bit about taking notes.

I disagree with many of the items/decisions in the video. In my experience:
1- Backpack > roll on. You can move faster when required. Overtaking as many people as possible during tight connections is key.
2- Take as much as you can in your cabin luggage, checked-in suitcases get lost quite often. Even if you check in, take 2 or 3 full clothing changes with you (accidents happen).
3- My Victorinox classic SD has been to 5 continents with no issues in any security control.
4- Packable down-jackets can be used as a pillow and still have a use once out of the plane. You'll be saving space in your luggage too.
5- Water bottle. Always carry a refillable bottle and fill it up in the fountains inside the terminal.
6- Toiletries that fill up your needs. Wet wipes are always welcome. Try to get to your destination looking and smelling fresh.
7- Use comfy trousers with at least one zipped pocket and keep your passport there. That is the only thing you cannot afford to lose. A lot of videos show sling bags, etc with dedicated spots for the passport, it is better to take the passport directly on your shirt/pants.
8- Take a smile with you, be polite and humble and not patronising and fussy.

Love this content. I travel a lot myself, need to check out the sling and the gaming device.
One thing I do on long flights, I get the emergency exit row or bulkhead and then I bring an inflatable footrest. Nothing better than putting your feet up while you sleep/eat/work/watch a movie.

Marcus - I love this vids, I recently travelled to Thailand and bough a few EDC products you recommended, they made the trip even better than I expected. Thanks for these posts always really useful.

My travel EDC would definitely be a Kindle (Basic), water bottle, scarf in case I get cold, a couple of meds in a cute tin (beano, Tums, gravol, etc), notebook with pen (in my case a pocket Leuchtturm1917 and Zebra Sarasa Dry), and noise canceling headphones. I like the look of the iPad mini though! I have the “regular” size but maybe now that I’m done grad school I could switch to a mini for portability. I also like the idea of a bladeless Victorinox with the scissors for travel journaling. Thanks for sharing!
