Today we talked about what's the best pre emergent. We talked about how pre emergents are best applied and the best time of the year to apply pre emergents. Pre emergent how to and DIY is now possible due to battery powered back pack sprayers. These sprayers allow for proper calibration.

Few myths:
It doesn't matter how thick your lawn is you will still get weed seeds coming into the lawn. Pre emergents set you up for the future not the past. If you haven't been using pre emergents properly until now chances are you will have weeds for a few seasons. Pre emergents do not kill weed seeds. They disallow the weeds from rooting during the germination process.

Dude you're the best. Venturing away from golf for the past 7 years into ball field management. Thank you so much.

I live in central Minnesota and tried a pre emergent for the first time last spring. I applied the granular treatment just after all the snow had melted and the top 2 inches of soil was soft. We have never had as beautiful of a lawn and weed free all summer.

Applied PRODIAMINE 2wks ago Jan 30, 2020, we had plenty of rain since. Looking forward to some results. Also, we will use PRODIAMINE year-round because of cost over dithiopyr. Working on a fixed income at 75.

Bravo! You take the time to read and respond to comments. That more than triples the value of subscribing because you answer questions I didn't yet know I have (had).

Great info!! In Charlotte, NC...common Bermuda and 2 acres/flat...ordered Prodiamine this morning in 5lb container...looking forward to getting more results with my lawn maintenance. Used post emergent big box store products, kept cut at 2 inches and WOW did that Bermuda grass spread rapidly. Thanks for this info!!!!

Another awesome video, I am taking charge of our lawn, and taking notes 📝, we did have a lawn service but next year no lawn service, I’m going to be the lawn service, I get it with the commercial service personnel, they can only do so much to each customer’s lawn, but if your lawn service guy won’t talk to you then do it yourself like I’m going to do, Sounds like your business is booming, and you take great pride in providing a great customer service and helping them out and telling them what to do and what is wrong with their lawn, we need more technicians like you or business owners like you in that area, again great information great videos

This is seriously the best pre-emergent video out there ... thank you for publishing it. I am now a faithful user of Prodiamine on our 1.25 acre lot in Arizona.

Very nice newly discovered videos. What I like about it is that I can hear the education in your vernacular. A lot of You Tube guys I can tell are Google smart and or only know there product from familiarity and not understanding. I am a new subscriber from NJ.
This particular video was killer. A lot better than a whiteboard demonstration.

Thanks for explaining how this stuff works and breaks down over time and how the other option compares.

Thanks!
Question ... I am in AZ where it's been between 95° and 115°F all summer, just about to cool down to mid 80s. The ground temperature just before sunrise this morning was 79°F. What temperature should the ground be at 3" in before I apply my fall application of Prodiamine. Thanks for this video BTW ... it is my go to and I send the link to anyone who might be interested.

Prodiamjne severely damaged my shady very fine fescue last year. Took a very long time to recover. Skipped it this year and lawns looking much better. Just a note, lawn had very heavy thatch so it might of built up in turf .

I want to thank you and also curse at you. Until this spring I was happy with my lawn. But now I'm obsessed. And also now I have the earthwise chipper I have opposite problem of to much browns for my compost pile. It all started when I tried to identify my quack grass. Why couldn't I get rid of this 6'x6' patch over the years. I sprayed normal spray, used weed n feed, and hand picked it for years. I soon realized I had several bad grasses. Quack, poa Anna, and bunching tall fescue. I have painstakingly hand painted blades of quack all summer. I shoukd have nuked an entire zone. But also I think I'm getting lots of quack grass seed germination. My spring overfeeding didn't go real well because I watered to long and the peat moss and seed washed off some big spots. Just a slight slope. Also a few dry hot days fried some baby KBG. But my labor day seeding is growing in much thicker. I used more heavy top soil and peat. And only 7 min water times. All the fescue was cut out and mew sod has blended in. Im getting compliments on my yard again. Oh also you got me using micro nutrients, milorganite, Humate. My neighbor is now feeling bad he has 60% bunching fescue. I know he is. Plus he has big patches of rye. I know he looks at my 100 %KBG with envy. You may have taken away many fishing trips this summer but my yard is kooking good. How deep do I go down this rabbit hole??

Thanks for mentioning rain. In central Oklahoma, it's hard to determine with the heavy rains and unpredictable spring weather (some years long and wet and other years almost non-existent) ...all of course appearing just before the ever popular tornado season (which is a whole other subject). Thanks for the great video!

Great Explanation! I am a LCO in CT and this year is horrendous for weeds/crabgrass. I do 2 apps of Dimension .15 full rate and still had issues. I have used Prodiamine in the past and I am thinking next year doing what you have suggested. Also, you mentioned the battery operated backpack sprayer. I purchased 2 Maruyama battery sprayers about 5 years ago. I use them every day and I have not had an issue with either one. They are nicads, but the new ones are lithium batteries. They are excellent. I can spray for 1-2 days on one battery. I keep a spare in the truck.
