Conan has so much respect to a man who saved his career. If it wasn't for David Letterman visiting Conan's show, we wouldn't have all those hilarious remotes.

This is beyond awesome. What an amazing token of respect for David Letterman by Conan O'Brien. What a Class Act. Job Well Done Conan.

Between this, and what Conan said and did during his monologue at the start of this show and the Essay he wrote for Dave that was in Entertainment Weekly, Conan showed the best and most moving sign of respect towards David Letterman out of all the current Late Night Talk Show Hosts.

So in saying all that, I will say forever that it should have been Conan that once again took over  Dave's show when Dave retired. And please know in saying that that I have nothing against Stephen Colbert, or Stephen Colbert getting the Late Show & that I truly hope Stephen Colbert does a great job as the new host of The Late Show.

But given Dave and Conan's history-from Conan taking over Late Night after Dave left NBC, to Dave coming on as a guest on Conan's Late Night four months into Conan's run on Late Night and in the process literally saving Conan's job/career, to Conan then going through the exact same thing with The Tonight Show and Jay Leno that Dave did years before, to have Conan take over for Dave on the Late Show in the end would have been the perfect ending to the story.
