A few weeks ago, I was chatting with my friend Mike McMonagle, who, like me, is gearing up for Transgrancanaria. As passionate trail and ultrarunning fans, we lamented the lack of rivalries in the sport.
So, we decided to change that. From this moment on, Mike and I are officially rivals, determined to outdo each other at TGC, with pride—and maybe a few other stakes—on the line. While Mike might be a bit optimistic about his chances, I’m always on the lookout for new sources of motivation, and this rivalry is a perfect fit.
As dedicated content creators, we thought it would be fun to share our budding feud with you. In this episode of "The Road to Transgrancanaria," Mike and I, along with our friend Caleb Olson, face off in a long tempo workout in the Salt Lake foothills.
This is just a teaser for race day, but we couldn’t resist igniting the competition early and sharing it with the world.
