Is The Wing creating a woman's world of their own, or is it just thinly veiled corporate feminism? This video started innocently enough – as a review of a coworking space that I genuinely did love – but one I ultimately had to leave.

This video is the most insane labor of love I've ever made. After a yearlong process of scripting, shooting, dragging camera equipment to The Wing at 10AM on a Sunday, editing, revising, re-scripting, and animating, it's done. I'm no journalist, so keep that in mind, but I did what I could to make sure I represented everything as accurately as possible. If I got anything factually wrong, please let me know! Many additions and changes were made to the script as things began happening in real time lol. Enjoy, and I *promise* I will have another video for you all much sooner than this one!

Wow this is so impressive! Thank you for taking the time to make this. I’d always felt skeptical of the Wing’s neoliberal “girl boss” branding, but with everything that’s come out about the treatment of employees (and some members)... it’s for sure a no! This is why ~feminist~ branding is so cringe bc companies like this are almost never actually feminist in practice

This video just exposed me to so many things I was never concious of before. Mostly because I am not a woman, but I live in a rural area where I wouldn't see a space like this. It was so cool to get an in-depth look of the beautiful locations and I was happy to see that women could have a space where they could feel safe and focus on their work and such. Then to have that followed up with them betray the policies they founded was disheartening. But I'm sure something better rise from the ashes, whether that be a newly reimagined Wing or some kind of successor. I'm happy I was exposed to this and that I can help out with the petition, so thank you so much for such a great video! Looking forward to the next one.

thanks for this, Lindsay! I wanted to join but as a flight attendant I didn't make enough. I feel bad for the employees. I've been so curious about this location and now I have enough to be a member. I love how you went from Boston to New York to West Hollywood and made the travel look so seamless.

I've been following this story for years. These folks had the pandemic which they couldn't control, but then all this pandering to the woke crowd is really what did them in. They should have gone full bore and said, "We are an exclusive club for high-achieving women. We are invite-only. We make no apologies for success or the achievement of success. We do not claim to be the be-all end-all. We are imperfect, but we are all successful. We are demanding of ourselves and of our members and employees. We offer a job, a chance to rub shoulders with other successful women, and a nice working and social space, similar to a country club. We eschew social media trends and virtue signaling, as those trends tend to blow with the wind. We make attempts at contributing to the community, but that is not our primary mission. Our primary mission is networking and social spaces for women on the move."

Thank you for such an insightful and cohesive summary Lindsay! I was also a member, and recently cancelled my membership. I'm disheartened, yet hopeful that either The Wing will evolve, or it will leave a legacy of what not to do.

I've lived in MA my whole life, about 20 min from Boston, so it's cool to find someone from the same area! Great video, it's so so high quality and clearly a ton of effort went into it. I love the idea of spaces for and by women, but under capitalism a big part of me feels like it will always end up like this.

Watching this after hearing the news that all locations of the The Wing are shutting down. So sad but kinda saw this coming, given the high cost of membership and the complaints from employees about being mistreated…
