Another legend gone—never to be replaced.

Newhart was very popular in Canada back in the 80's. I grew up watching Newhart, amazing deadpan comic. Larry, Darryl, and Darryl were some of the funnest bits. lol

He was very innovative as a comedian. He was a master at performing a phone conversation that the audience only heard his side of, and still managed to convey exactly what the person on the other end was saying. Definitely a legend! RIP

Bob Newhart was a class act, and never used off color language. What a legend he was!

Newhart came to my bookstore where I worked years ago for a signing. I was alone with him in the break room, but I was in a hurry to go home, so I pretty much ignored the guy. It was foolish of me.

his dry delivery was great on The Big Bang Theory! "Is that an Internet?"

Bob Newhart was in a show, where he played a comic artist. I was, and still am a big fan of comic books. The internet either didn't exist then, or I just didn't have a computer. What I remember best, is that I got to see what my favorite comic book artists looked like on that show. It's kinda novel now.. since I can image google search them now. I know google didn't exist back then. I think when my mom got the family a computer, there was.. I think it was called Excite as a search engine... yeah.. I'm old.

LOVE Newhart (the one with the inn in Vermont with Larry and the Darryls). His first show is wonderful too but something about the crazy Vermont town and cozy setting just hits all the right spots for me. i like that it's good natured humor. something that seems to be long, long lost. thankfully we can enjoy the hard work of talented peoples of the past...for now!

it's important to keep dvd or HDDs of media b/c all these classic shows are never on a streaming service. if i wanna sit down and watch Newart, Barney Miller, Andy Griffith, Night Gallery, and Columbo, why can't just ONE service offer all these shows? instead they're nowhere to be found. streaming is too fragmented, too expensive, and back catalogues are non-existent. simplest thing would be just licensee out your media to Netflix, and there you go. you get tons of money for licensing w/o the headache of running a streaming service. why the hell every company decided that was the best move was completely r-tarted.

witnessing all this light leave the world, it's kind of an indicator there is a hereafter.

Like Johnny Carson, he had class. Back before comedy got rude and crude. One of the last of a more civilized age.

The 1970s had some great comedies and some that are so bad that it's hard to believe they were even on, much less were hits. The Bob Newhart show was one of the absolute greats. Great writing, great delivery, great characters. Everything was great about it, except that I haven't seen it in decades.

94 years, jesus, that's long. I never know which Oak was by me growing up in Illinois. Just saw he was from Illinois and I grew up on the Southwest side of Chicago's suburbs. There's Oak Forest, Oak Lawn, and Oak Park. Illinois is GREAT FOR THAT, many villages with the same starting name and different "suffix". So, Oak Park is the nicer neighborhood on the west side of Chicago. Got it. I think that's where Bill Murray and Betty White were from. Bill's from Willmette, no clue where that is in Illinois.

I'd recommend everyone go find and watch a movie called "Cold Turkey."
