key topping out is a major issue that can usually only be fixed by having dampeners on the actual switch slider. don't expect O rings to silence a keyboard on the upstroke.

I just realized that if I double up then rings on the WASD keys they are now much harder to miss when gaming! The sound difference on my Brown Switches is barely noticeable but it most certainly is improved.

The tone of the sound has changed quite a bit, most of the high range being dampened. I think I'll give this a try since I just "switched" to mechanical

after slamming my own keycaps multiple times w/o the o-rings, I hereby conclude that the noise from a mechanical keyboard originally came from the keycaps hollowed structure itself you can try to reduce the collision noise etc. However the reduction isn't significant. Laptop keycaps are not that loud coz its nearly flat shaped. Thank you for coming to my ted-talk.

o rings get rid of the "thock" that mechs usually have, and it just leaves the annoying high pitch noise of pressing a key

I need to make my Z & X keycaps silent for Osu, because my family doesn't like them 💀💀

I heard barely any difference in this video, but I do know that these work from experience.

It great that you tested the three different switches under very similar conditions. You can really hear the difference and the decibels don't lie.

O rings are an effective, cheap, and easily reversible way to make the downstroke quieter. My issue with them is that they reduce the travel and feel too spongy. Unfortunately, once you've bought a noisy keyboard, there's not a great deal you can do to make it quieter without resorting to a bit of DIY by lubing the stabilisers. Plus most cheap keyboards, and some expensive ones have very rattly stabilisers.

I love Gateron Aliaz. They’re quiet, but have a good smooth tactile feel to them.

are my ears deceiving me or did nothing change after the o-rings?

If you want quieter linear switches, just go for the silent reds instead of the default. Huge difference.
