Watch the full Impact Theory Podcast with Zuby:

On the Impact Theory podcast, Zuby discusses the importance of hard work, smart work, and long hours in achieving significant success. He highlights the shift in cultural values, noting that historically, America celebrated perseverance and the effort to build something meaningful.

Zuby contrasts this with current attitudes, where such principles often face criticism. He emphasizes that true achievement requires dedication and acknowledges that competition will be fierce against those who embody these three work ethics.

I just got let go from my job for saying we should be celebrating young people still willing to have and raise Children instead of divergent sexualities.

People are weak physically and mentally. It's so disgusting to see them not fight back.

I don't mind chasing success. What I do mind is being told that you need wealth, power, and fame to be considered successful. Some people just want to live comfortable lives not in the limelight, and die quietly. Is that such a bad thing?

The reason why such people complain I imagine is due to the fact that it has become harder on them to live comfortably. They have to work harder for less money and they see where the trajectory is going.

Nobody is stopping a student in this country from learning in school and being well rounded and knowledgeable except themselves and their friends. For too long being "rich" is what they want, instead of doing well and staying out of trouble.

The issue today is - as a Millenial we work just as many hours as our parents and grandparents did but we are paying for the policies they passed. Baby boomers absolutely fucked America.

Because that is where Liberalism was always destined to end up unless it has moral standards to keep it anchored. We had that in America until it was cast aside in the name of "progress".

It’s the same reason why we once thought cigarettes were healthy. It’s not because they seemed that way, but enough loud people backed by rich people spoke up and nobody cared enough to advocate strongly for the opposite

As someone who put his all into building out an engineering group, and now am so burned out i can barely get out of bed, be very careful with the grind mentality. When youre young this is something you can handle, at least for a while, but it will catch up to you. Sacrificing your health isnt worth it.

Also people are looking at billionaires negatively now because the economic sitaution for most has changed so dramatically. People are living pay check to pay check more than ever and barely making it while billionaires are cruising around in yachts. As the suffering for the working class increases they are only going to get more enraged. It appears that over time many wealthy people have become completely detached and have no connection to the struggle that people are going through to survive. The constant stress and uncertainty really wears on you after some time.

It's pretty simple. The reason why certain narratives that promote and encourage some form of "victim mentality" are accepted by the masses is, working hard/ smart/ and long is really tough and most don't have the long duration endurance for it. The big 3 are incredibly powerful tools that could leave your competition in the dust, but are viewed only as threats and not like the opportunities they are. Victimhood offers the people an "easy" way out and a convenient excuse for falling out of the race or, for most, not even entering.

That 35k to be in the global 1%, is really a slap in the face for most Americans because that's just above poverty level for USA.

A billionaire is a pejorative because it’s an illustration of how we celebrate inequality.
When there are people who can’t afford to eat and you’re sitting on piles of cash, and happy with that situation, that’s an illustration of a sick society

They don't think it's gross. They do everything the oligarchy want. The 99% now support the one percent. That's what happened during covid.

Ever consider that the reason why the younger generation has largely turned its back on celebrating neo robber barrons is because they've seen generations of their families and entire communities wrecked to build those fortunes?

I'm against the victim mentality, I'm against leftists, etc., but this way of reasoning "we're in the 1% of humanity, so ..." doesn't work. It's not how humans think. It also defeats their other arguments, because, if I'm in the 1% of humanity (let's say I earn 35000), why should I do more? Why should I try to achieve more? I'm already in the 1% of humanity, right?
The reality is that society simply has to decide what it wants to be and then has to force (through shaming, social manipulation, etc.) the majority of the population to follow the chosen line. This is what was happening when things worked. People didn't follow the line because they necessarily believed it to be good, but because of what would have happened if they didn't. If you were a wh*re, you'd be shamed for it and ostracized. If you were a bum, you'd be shamed, ostracized and put in jail. If you behaved too erratically or simply too out of line, you'd be put in an asylum, etc. You don't want this and prefer the freedom guaranteed by current day society, then you end up with a decadent society. That's not true for everybody, obviously, but when a big enough portion of your society goes down the drain, the rest will be brought down with it, given enough time.

I don't have a problem with people who have made a lot of money. I do have a problem being told that is the most important metric of success. I live a quiet life in my own home in a small town with a couple of children. I earn 80000 a year and enjoy a comfortable life. Why is this not a successful life. There seems to be a disconnect with what values are actually important

I have no problem with rich people. But they shouldn't exploit those whom they've employed (or those who consume their product/service) in an effort to attain their wealth. To exploit people in the pursuit of wealth is to add fuel to the fires of resentment, which isn't good for anybody, whether rich or poor. Now, I understand that what one person views as exploitation can sometimes be viewed by another as opportunity, but there's gotten a be a point at which reasonable people can see that a line has been crossed. Capitalism in the absence of moral boundaries (I prefer Christianity) is destined to eat itself.
