Neat list, I actually haven't considered some of these and it's important (like the difference between a trigger button and a switch). Thanks!

I just went thru this trying to figure out the best compromise. Was NOT at all fun at the time.
Reviews can help if well written. Runtime for example seemed to be a hot point. (I can only guess a lot of people have a whole lot bigger house than I have.)
Another high tooted feature is getting under furniture and suggest measuring exactly the clearance you require.
There is a whole lot of hoopla about the heavy part up top currently. Manufacturers don't mention how heavy (tiring and awkward) that is overhead for any length of time and bulky on stairs. That (if) it can't stand up by itself and slides off everything leant against landing with disturbing crash.
You are spot on best to try in person before making a choice.
BTW not implying negative review up there. I actually ended up buying 2. 😒 A lower cost, lighter weight, smaller footprint, stands up right by itself w/pop off Dust Buster like hand vac at the bottom. And a top canister, more expensive much higher and bigger footprint w/insane mobility & lights & 2' long hair doesn't wrap around the rollers. Not easy or convienient to fold in half to stand on its own. Both have awkwardly placed plug in ports, are jointed, have detachable hand capability, roughly same runtime, labled for pets & hair as well as hard surface and carpet, similar tools, are major brand names and I had no options to try anything available before I bought.
Plan was to choose between the two 😆 able to get off my feet to read reviews & give a lot more consideration for the price diffrence.
I like them both equally for different reasons. I find I use the lighter weight cheaper one most often, it's just a whole lot more convenient - for ME. But do not regret keeping the other one (except how decadent it feels to have 2.)
Geat little tools, very much improved over previous ones I've had, both work very well and I expect I would have been happy with with either one if I didn't have the other one. 😜

I like a cordless that comes with an extra battery. Harder to find unfortunately.

9 minutes runtime on full power, and that’s with a brand new battery which will become worse over a short amount of time like any other rechargeable device, so that’s 1 room hoovered then back on charge, I can’t see the appeal of these at all.

I’m sorry but if you use your dyson in the max setting non-stop you’re a bit of a nut
