Should You Keep Using Audacity?

Audacity is an excellent tool for audio editing, but is it worth continuing to use it in light of recent privacy policy updates?

The company that owns Audacity, Muse, has updated its privacy policy to state that it collects users' IP addresses, particularly concerning bugs, crash reports, and issues.

While this data collection may not seem a big deal initially, it could be used to sell user data.

During a five month deep dive I did on the functions one could perform in Audacity, I discovered that, using Audacity, if you knew how to do it, one could insert code into a song to bounce back and collect all kinds of data. Pretty crazy that that kind of function was readily available to anyone willing to learn.
