"Democracies aren't overthrown; they're given away" - George Lucas

A quote that has sadly become increasingly relevant.

George Lucas, like many shamans in our history, have sounded the alarm and warned us about ideological possession and political polarization.

Star Wars never “got too political” under Disney, I'd rather argue Star Wars mostly got declawed of politics beyond the superficial. It took until Andor to really say something about the current state of American and greater world politics. But I am unsure how often we can get an Andor.

Years later, hearing Lucas' line about "when you're not doing the people's work, a tyrant will step in and the people will follow wherever there's leadership"...

...and thinking immediately of this scene:

The man doesn't get nearly enough credit for understanding how easily a democracy can become a dictatorship.

0:42 Sounds like he's talking about Trump. "If you're always bickering, and not agreeing on things, and doing the people's work, who elected you. A Tyrant will come in and take over and do it for you, because the people want to get the job done. They will tend to go where the person that's got the most leadership is."

Million dollar question. Is Palpatine, actually George Soros? And is Luke, Donald Trump?
