It gets serious when people laugh at you for getting a silver medal in a competition as prestigious as IMO

When I went to the IMO, I scored 37 points, getting a perfect score on the first day, and a total percentile score of 97%, the highest ever in the Netherlands. Easily made the mark for a gold medal.
So, would I have made it in the Chinese team? No!

The entire Chinese team got perfect scores on both days, totalling at 42 points each.
Ten people in the world got a perfect score, six of them were Chinese.
If the competition was China v.s. the rest of the world, China would have won. Crazy to think about.

The top 100% Caucasian team at IMO 2023 is Romania: #1 in Europe and #4 in the world after China, US (all "American" competitors are Asians) and South Korea. The top scorer in the history of IMO is also Romanian.

I think china can afford do to such things because they have 1/5 of humanity, therefore on top of the cultural struggle to be the best, they have a enormous pool of people they can select, and this goes for everything.
