One of the very best voices EVER on YouTube. Clear, reassuring, calm.

Maybe a bonus of returning to the Moon would be to set up a s SETI station on the far side and let the Moon block all the human interference?

First alien signal we detect:
_"Have you or a loved one been injured in a warp drive accident ?"_

John you are amazing, I really hope you can keep doing your art for a long time. You deserve to be happy while being such a passionate artist.

The fact that the new multi-signal systems are close enough to have detected our radio emissions, and yet far enough away to not have been able to respond yet, is absolutely horrific & exciting

something that is understandable but frustrating is that SETI generally doesn't attempt to decode the signals, only categorize them. A "wow" signal doesn't need to repeat if it can be decoded.

"In this amazing universe in which we This never gets old, please don't stop doing this at the end of your videos.

I listen to John Michael Godier videos over and over again. His narratives are definitely unique --generally discussing technology yet timeless.

Interesting. I hope we get some repeat signals from those. I remember that early Event Horizon interview it's a good one. I'm so happy I found you on YouTube back then, John. I have really enjoyed all of the content over the years. Cheers 🍻.

Aliens contact Earth.

Alien message sits in Earth's spam folder.

In stellaris we would be considered an early Space Age civilization. There could be at least 30 civilizations out there among the 200 billion stars. It's kind of hard to find someone in something that large

I had that old Seti program running on my computer. Everything was so slow it was almost a complete waste of time back then, but whatever it was kind of neat.

I don't think I'll ever stop being impressed at the Wow Signal. Just like you said here, the bandwidth was so small and yet still we somehow picked it up.

It's very reassuring to hear a calm, intelligent voice on YouTube.

I think it is important to consider that radiosignals might represent the "stone age" of communication for a developed civilization. Gravity, and in particular Quantum entanglement could possibly represent the next leap in communication; or perhaps, the method that allows us to start gathering signals from other civilizations simply isn't thought of yet. We might need to take the steps of development before we reach the point where we discover it. And perhaps, at that point, we can tune in on the universe and hear all the songs.

By all means, I think searching for radiosignals is very important, but I don't necessarily expect it to be where we get the answers.

A famous astronomer once said the chances of extraterrestrial life finding would be like trying to find a ping pong ball on the North American continent. So the chances of us finding someone is probably even less.
