I'm so glad illustrators and artists are actually giving their hands-on experience with the nano-texture. Too many people were assuming it had no effect on the drawing experience. This is really helpful!

I just can't stomach the price tag 😬 the old pro was already insanely expensive and this is just 🤯

I went with the 1TB because I want this iPad to last like my iPad Pro 2018 until now (and still, using it to watch videos while drawing on the new) and decided to go with the nano texture glass because of the anti reflection. I ordered it right after the event and then got a bit worried because everyone was commenting about it not being a good option. But when I sat outside in our garden drawing on it and saw how much it looked and felt like drawing on paper I was so thrilled that I did go for it. I’ve drawn a lot on my 2018 iPad, without a screen protector (but with a 2 finger glove) so I’m used to the slippery surface but this is so much nicer. I also love how your fingers don’t stick when moving around on the screen. Really happy with it!

Nano texture is great for artists and photographers. If it looks good on matte, it will look good on glossy but not the other way round. I just wished Apple would educate their audience about these subtleties professionals look out for rather than leave consumers scrambling and arguing within themselves on which option to get. And who needs 1TB of storage on an artist's tablet? Ridiculous to pay the high price just to get Nano texture.

Your video review made me very curious so I went inside an Apple store last week to test. As an artist and illustrator -- I am 100% with you -- the nano is SO much better. To me it feels so much more realistic, not like paper but kind of like drawing on a pleasantly soft chalk board. Nano all the way for me. Thank you SO much for your helpful and brilliant review. I couldn't agree more. Nano all the way! And thank you

Hi, good evening, Lisa! How are you? Your video helped me choose my iPad Pro. I will go with the standard version because of the color fidelity. Thanks a lot for your help! Take care.

THANK you for making this! I’ve ordered mine and am waiting like a month for it to arrive, and have become nervous about the nano screen. You made me feel so much better!

Very glad to hear this feedback. I purchased the 13” M4 iPad Pro 1TB with nano texture glass and this seems to be the best possible fit for my usage purposes. My intro to digital art was with procreate/ipad pro 11” m2 a little over a year ago. I never used a matte screen protector/opted for a glass screen protector for color fidelity as I didn’t know how far I would go with digital art. It is definitely a skill I am going to be nurturing and then new iPads utility in different lighting conditions, light weight and convenient form factor all reassure me that I am making a good choice. My only hesitation (after dropping some $2200 for this setup) was that the nano texture would not be a good option for one reason or another. Concerns alleviated 🫶🏼 now to wait for my 6/7-14 delivery date 🫠

i LOVED it until i got a knick/scratch already!! i haven't even used it a week! UGH, i have a tummy ache over it! it was so expensive! I have no idea how the knick even happened, which to me seems to prove how easy it is to do it... you would think i would have noticed if i got something sharp in contact with it. But i do not know how it happened. SOOOO now what to do? its a week old. :( interested to hear if anyone else had this happen.... reading all your responses . Thanks for the video - i still freaking love this thing

Very interesting video. But what about reading books on iPad? I must go for the nano-texture or I can go smooth with the standard glass? Thanks..

Tested the nano texture in the Apple Store today and found it lovely to draw on (smoother gliding of the pencil, on the glossy surface it sort of gets stuck sometimes as you draw a line). It’s not like a paperlike screen protector at all - which I like.

But I’m not paying that kind of money for storage that is way beyond my needs plus no durability tests… Might upgrade later when the nano has been through heavy testing from the artist community and is hopefully rolling out on cheaper models as well.

I think I’ll go with the Air 13“ for now - would probably take the pro if it had the nano texture available for lower storage options. But as it is I’d rather save money and I’m used to the 60 Hz refresh rate from my 1st gen iPad Pro anyway so I probably won’t miss anything (on the contrary - the m2 and pencil pro will be a huuuuge upgrade).

The layer count in procreate was the same on the Air 13“ and both the pro with glossy screen and nano texture. Not sure about the specs of these devices though - didn’t check that in the settings.

I know you'll end up selling me on this eventually, but I'm loving living vicariously through you for now!

Such a great video! You answered ALL my questions. It was very cool to hear how it feels from an illustrator's perspective, and even see it in action in different lighting conditions. You thought of everything, and then tested everything out. Thank you, thank you!!

I really like your feedback because you are actually using it for drawing

So I just got the Nano texture to learn procreate so I will be referencing you vids, guess I should join. But I can’t seem to find a direct answer to if you sould get a screen protector for the nano? Seems not, but what if you accidentally drop it? I have a case, but that can come off if it’s dropped right?

Thank you! This is exactly the review i need! I went to the Apple store and apparently they don't put this model on display so this is super helpful!

Love the matt screen protector comparison too. It is definitely an option i was considering. Very extensive and you answered all the questions I had!

About the polishing cloth - Apple has said that any soft, lint free, clean cloth will be fine for the nano screen. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I'm getting mines on Thursday with the Nano-Texture Display and the 1TB of storage along with the Pencil Pro, going to be using it for University for my art and ZBrush is coming to the iPad Pro M4 model, so I'm super excited about that!

Thanks, Lisa! I appreciate hearing your perspective and experience. There is no doubt an iPad Pro is an expensive tool and for me, it's helpful to hear the reasons why you prefer this or that, etc. Everyone is going to have a personal preference. I'm considering upgrading my 11" 2020 iPad Pro, 512gb to the 11" M4 1Ttb; based on your review, I've been able to determine that the Nano-texture is something I will likely forego. I use mine to draw, but also to edit photographs and video; now that they exist, I think the best option for me would be to try a magnetic matte screen protector on the standard glass so I can alternate between the two depending on task. 👍🏽

Thank you, Lisa, that was very helpful!
I'm looking forward to reviews on the durability of the nano texture. I tend to push a little to much as I draw (which I learned the hard way by scratching up my paperlike screen protector immediately after putting it on). I think the nano texture could be perfect for me as it's not a plastic cover but for now - even though I will buy a new iPad as my 1st gen is starting to struggle a bit - it's out of my price range with the limitation to the 1 TB and 2 TB options.
Might get an iPad Air 13 instead... Very much looking forward to your and other artist's comparisons of that and the iPad Pro M4!
