I really appreciate your reasoning to not call this a review but a first impressions video. Sadly most channels rush out a video and act like they now everything about the product already and you taking a step back and talking about the circumstances under which you conducted your testing is really something to appreciate. First video I saw of your channel but you already earned my like and sub 👍

I’m am a pro illustrator and this is the “review” I’ve been looking for. All the other tech reviewers don’t use iPads day to day for work so their reactions towards it are odd. Of course they’re miffed by the new Pros power because they don’t use it.

I usually do 3000px and run all the way up to 54 max layers in procreate on my 2020 Pro. So the new The pencil as well. I’m stoked to get mine! Thanks for the first impression!

Request: As one (like you) who uses the Galaxy Tab Ultra and Clip Studio Paint, I was wondering how heavy 3D models in CSP perform on the M4.

It’s the only use case that would make me switch to the M4, if that massive power can be used for CSP art.

It’s an area that no art reviewer has covered well, and people are using 3D models more and more in CSP. You could just try the biggest model already included in CSP, it may be the “3D classroom”.

GREAT channel, btw. 😊

I am interested in the layer difference between 8GB Ram, 16GB Ram and if you get any more layers. The pro pencil is also interesting with the new features, especially the barrel roll feature.

nomad sculpt for 3d sculpting is great ...

Very interesting.
Really keen to know how the new Air is for art and comic creation as well as Final Cut on the new iPads. Thinking of getting my first iPad in over a decade but I don’t think I can justify the cost of the Pro models as I’m more hobbyist now.

Nomad Sculpt is probably the most developed 3d software on the iPad. Valence 3d is another newcomer and I would say it’s the best yet though it focuses on modeling

The biggest problem with early reviews is that apps aren’t optimized or even ready for the new architecture inside.

I remember getting my M1 iPad Pro on launch. And because none of the apps recognized the specifics of the M1 so it all defaulted to think it’s an iPad running on an A12 chip with 3gb of RAM. It took about a month to recognise the chip, and about 6 months for the 16gb of RAM models to give access to more of that RAM.

I’m gonna wait a few weeks at least for the M4.

If you have multiple page files in Procreate in high res, or busy animatics above 720p, I can still reach the layer limits. And Callipeg chugs when I make longer (10seconds) 4k animation with a lot of layers.

Interested in knowing what the drawing feel will be like using a Paperlike screen protector and what impact that has on the OLED displays resolution. Also, how well will the squeeze feature work when you apply a silicone grip to the Apple Pencil Pro.

On my iPad Pro M1, I get around 5 hours 30 min - 6 hours in Procreate, when drawing constantly. Did that improve on the new iPad Pro with M4?

Will you make a video on how it feels to draw on the new ipad air?

At first I was so excited to this the new iPad Pro but after using it for a while, unfortunately it doesn’t change how I draw on Procreate, at least for now.

2022 mini LED still works just fine and great

Oh man that’s awesome. So excited you got early hands on! That Apple Pencil pro! Excited to see how it’s implemented in other apps.

This new iPad should be amazing for 3D Modeling apps!

I find it interesting how apple promotes how long they support their products, but then make new software and peripherals inconvenient or obsolete in a year or two. Samsung released the creator edition S pen that still worked on previous tablets, if the galaxy tab had all the same apps, the choice would be a no brainer.

I increasingly regret opting for the 11-inch M4 with 256GB, yet I recall the cumbersome feel of the 1st gen 12.9-inch model. Currently, I own the 1st gen 11-inch, and I've been enjoying it since its initial release.

Thank you - I think you are the first person to show what it looks like closed with the magic keyboard - even Apple has been avoiding that!

the iPad Air M2 12.9 and iPad Pro M2 12.9 are the same, but the new air has the new Apple Pencil Pro, but the old pro has better refresh rate😭 idk with one to get, here in Germany they r priced the same.

The pencil pro being gatekept to the M4 is one of the worst decisions they’ve made. It’s basically a 1200-2000 dollar pencil
