I believe Area for the bolt would be pi/4 * (1.25 in)^2 because 1.25 is the diameter not the cross sectional area of the bolt

yea mate your area for the bolt is wrong, and even when going through with your approach with the right area, it isn't right as I would get a shear stress of approx. ~3. Which isn't in the permanent deformation range, which im sure it should be.
