Story time… my mom put like 6 of these in a pot and let it simmer… then forgot all about it and went to bed. The water evaporated and everything just got hot. The entire thing exploded at 1 am when we were all asleep…. Our whole kitchen was covered in dulce deleche… the floor, ceiling, on top of the fridge, even got inside the light fixtures… thankfully no one got hurt. So just don’t forget about it… set a timer or something 😁 As long as you do it right, this dulce de leche is absolutely amazing….my mom uses it all the time for cakes and pastries.

For the dulce de leche, make sure you clean all the glue off the outside of the can before you boil it, or you'll end up with a ring of glue on the inside of your pot that is WAY harder to scrub off.

If you are in the US do NOT do that to the can. There is a plastic liner in the can, when you boil it the plastic melts into the food.
