I love how the ending doesn't show if the audience liked it or not. Because deep down Andrew became obsessed with Fletcher's approval and once he got that, the audience didn't matter. He became insane just like Fletcher

The dad’s face looking in is the best part of the film.

“I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it.”

I love the part where Andrew says “it’s whiplashing time” and whiplashes all over the place

The look on the dads face. He is outside looking in through a cracknin the door. Its like he is looking in on something he will never understand.
But he is in aw, he is horrified, he is proud, all in one expression.

Absolute chefs kiss.

The easter egg after the credits where Fletcher gets lashed with a whip is such a nice detail

1:38 is the exact moment we see andrew no longer being afraid of fletcher. instead of adverting his eyes when fletcher gets onto him he looks him STRAIGHT IN THE EYES. fletcher sees that and he knows he has the next charlie parker. life changing flim.

At the pinnacle of hatred for each other, the music unites them.

He called him Andrew in the solo section… the plot deepens

I come here sometimes just to revisit this scene and, try as I might I cannot recreate how it made me feel the first time I watched the film. The horns are amazing. Miles seems like he knows his way around a kit, but it bugs me that often what we see him doing isn't what we are hearing, but I let that go. (Same for the bassist next to him, as far as that is concerned). Still, amazing, powerful scene.

i like to think about how the trombone guy must’ve felt when Neiman rushed him to his solo to spite Fletcher and then gave an equal or even better one

The look on the bass players face at 9:02 always gets me. He's seeing a monster being formed.

I don't know how intentional this was, but presumably all these musicians knew Caravan on queue because Fletcher made them know it without sheet music, which Andrew knew they knew because of Fletcher...

Fletcher guiding him in his moment was wonderful. What a performance by both actors

Idk why but this scene always makes me emotional in a way that only musicians can understand and those who love music, striving to reach that close perfection and flow state is like an addiction and once your in it you never want to let it go

I see this part of the movie, or more specifically Neiman's solo after Caravan, to be a sort of "Apotheosis" of Neiman as a character. Someone who is so driven, so good at what they do, and so willful towards and end, that they achieve heights that nobody can mistake as being anything other than legendary. His own dad, who supported his son but never understood musicianship, is left with a look of awe and fear. The bandmates sitting closest to Neiman are actively leaning AWAY from him. Hell, even the beef between Fletcher and Neiman, the SCENE PRIOR where Neiman takes control of the band and Fletcher threatens to "gouge his eyes out", is nothing compared to this singular moment.

It's the idea of "ascension", but also the death of humanity. The whole movie showed how Neiman was being pushed out of his own life, but even then he was clinging. When he went to go hug his dad after Fletcher guaranteed he would never be a professional, THAT should have been the opportunity for Neiman to be free and live his own life from then on.

But, that hug was less of comfort, and more of a goodbye.
