This lens is a 'tank-like' lens in the Sony lineup. I've used this for many weddings, events, theatre and festival shoots. It can really take a pounding and still produce really nice results.

I just bought one "used" for $1, 000. The guy used it for a 2-day shoot then auctioned it in eBay. The lens was in perfect condition, like new. This was definitely a steal for me and I believe it was worth getting this instead of the mark II for $2000.

Is this a good lens for landscape and city?

I tried both mark I and mark II at B&H. I would say the zoom ring feels better on mark I, better for video zoom in and out action.

Great informative video! I have been considering this lens heavily.. I know its old but still seems very good and I can find a used one for around the same price as a sigma. What would you pick if you could find these 2 at similar price points?
