While in a midst of a multi-week prop replica build, Adam takes a break from the long-term project to take on a more relaxing assembly: this intricate 4-cylinder car engine model kit. Made of diecast metal parts, this animated model is an elegant visual representation of how a four stroke engine works, and a nice project to get done in a single day!

Having spare mounting bosses on the engine casting is totally in line with real life too. They can be for things like airconditioning or power steering, engine mounts for putting the same engine in a different car, mounting brackets for hoses and wires, etc.. etc..

I have received one of these from the web site listed above. It arrived much quicker that advertised. One catch. Adam got a manual in English. The one shipped with mine is in Chinese. That’s going to make things a bit more difficult, but what the heck, it will be fun.

I really feel like an engine builder needs to bring Adam in for a day of building something like an LS. That would be really entertaining to watch and Adam hasn't had the joy of building a full sized engine.

As an engine machinist and builder I just.... I'm glad it's miniature. a full size engine takes so much measuring and work.even during assembly

I built the V-8 teching model with 32 valves. It was so fun. Tedious but really easy. Now I want to build one that actually runs on fuel. That will be so awesome.

watching the engine turn over, a part of me kept saying "get off the starter, you're going to burn it up!!" then I remembered that it's not a real engine or starter lol

I saw someone else do this build and it's an awesome little engine. I'm planning on putting two Conley blown V-8's in an RC boat soon and will do some videos of that build. As far as the hay fever...I can totally relate here in El Sobrante surrounded by weeds, trees, and my landlord mowing the weeds down!

As a mechanic there's things done in this video that I'm like nope that's wrong or I would have done it differently however loved it and liked how it can actually give a perspective of how an engine is designed and built

This is a much better replica than the one released by Smithsonian. The Smithsonian model I built was very janky and acted like a real car engine would when it's on its last legs. The one in this video is gorgeous!

What a great build!!! Thanks for the video and link to website. Just purchased one for me and my 7 year old grandson to build. I've built 3 V-8 engines and 2 VW engines. Wished I could afford the V-8. Thanks again.
