The populists, extreme left or right, once in power invariably fail and are removed from power to become a very noisy but ineffective opposition. An example is the PiS party in Poland which ruled for 8 years but was lost in late 2023.

You would have hoped that Europe more than most places would have learned the lessons of Dictatorship and Fascism. Apparently not. Or the elders didn’t teach their kids.
