A journey to Alpha Centauri

Показать описание
This video shows an imaginary journey from Earth to the Alpha Centauri system. As we leave the Solar System we see the familiar constellation figures including the Southern Cross (Crux) and the bright stars Alpha and Beta Centauri. As we approach Alpha Centauri we pass a faint red star, this is Proxima Centauri, the closest star to Earth and the faintest component of a triple star system. The final part shows the bright double star Alpha Centauri A and B with the Sun visible in the background. Alpha Centauri B is known to be orbited by an Earth-mass planet, the closest exoplanet to the Solar System.

If u can imagine the tv is the sun, and you are sitting 1 metre from it, that represents the distance from The Earth and The Sun, imagine 250 kilometres away represents where these stars are!

I'm a visual learner, so this helps me understand Alpha Centauri more than text alone.

It is truly amazing to think that the starry night we see here on Earth would look virtually the same on stars like Proxima Centauri, which is over 4 light-years away. The fact that space is incredibly vast and seemingly infinite is what makes this possible. The stars we see at night are so far away that their light takes years to reach us, and this means that their position and brightness won't have changed much, if at all, over that time. This realization is humbling and awe-inspiring, as it highlights just how small we are in the grand scheme of the universe.

It's pretty close, in space distance, that's like next door!

This video came with a music that was haunting to listen to. It heightened the effect of this video.

imagine someone is watching the sun from Alpha Centauri and be like "we will reach there one day"

Amazing!
I want to visit a planet orbiting those!

We all know that fact of course, but: Isn't it fascinating, how complete empty-handed of stars the space between earth and "the Centaurs" is ?
You think when it starts, 'you' will fly beneath masses of planets or so. But besides the fact, that Proxima Centaur is THE NEAREST star, is space always that empty.
We travelled millions of Lightyears, and saw: nothing.
In my opinion it's a breathtaking fact!

Space ♡ I love you so so much.

Very nice video.
As far as we know now, the discovery of the planet orbiting Alpha Centauri B could not (yet) be confirmed. Anyway, it would not be the closest exoplanet to the Solar system since the later discovered Proxima Centauri B is somewhat closer.

Closest but at this rate no human can reach there lack of speed though it is not possible to travel at speed of light even if we achieve it, it would take us their in 4 year

Kudos to the cameraman for making it to the Alpha Centauri system and showing use of our sun from that star system's pov

They will be our first visit outside of the solar system in probably 500 years, if humanity can make it so far. If we don't find warp drive, a drive which can accelerate atleast to 0.2c is good enough for starters.

Please skip the cinematics. I want to see an actual zoom into the star system from our earthly perspective..

Relative speed (max): almost 1 parsec per second. Wow.
