Could you imagine Stephen King's children growing up, "No, Daddy, please don't read us a story."

When someone posts a 'why you should' video and you already do, but turned up to nod sagely throughout the video.

Recommendation: Don't read The Shining during the recent isolation... It will mess you up.

To your first point as David Fincher says “People are perverts”.

Btw, there's a GREAT interview with Stephen King and George RR Martin on YouTube. It's bloody fantastic seeing the two of them talk about their craft.

So, I started reading The Stand a few weeks ago and, well, here we are. The world sure has changed since I began that book.

There's a passage in his second novel "Salem's Lot" where his prose speaks profoundly about the small town. He writes about the characters of the small town, their demons, their lives, their struggles amidst their daily lives even before the Vampires. I remember the first time I read it, it was so beautiful because he essentially captures the heart, spirit, and guilt that the characters inhibit. He wrote about the crimes they did, the lives they lead, the gossip, the humility, and the spirit of childhood which he makes a Central point in his writing. You are transported to the imagination we've known from childhood, but have suppressed since we've grown. So pick up a book by him and start reading, but also take a look at his stories because they'll leave you one hell of an impact just like his novels.

Stephen King is the only horror writer I read. That is due to his writing style, he can make any story interesting. I love how he writes, and how you are in the characters’s life

I stumbled on this video by And let me tell you - as a woman who owns everything King has published.... You are spot on.

The Green Mile made me cry, Pet Sematary is way scarier than the movies, Gerald's Game traumatized me for weeks, It made me feel like I was actually living the characters lives, his older works are incredible.

I make the journey to the Tower about once a year. He’s the first author I obsessed over and spent four years collecting every book he’s released.

No one understands characters better than he does. He grips you with the first few pages.

King is the GOAT. Love how he pulls you in to caring about his character's then he will pull the rug out from you.

One of my favourite aspect in King's writing is that you dont know when something happens if its due to supernatural causes or the characters imagination or bat shit craziness !!!

I feel like King's horror is so good because he tricks your mind into building up the fear by itself. You're not scared because the monster is gross or because the gore is too intense (and normally, both of these things are present in his works), but you are scared because he has built up the tension to the point it feels like he is catering to /your/ specific fears, and your own mind is basically scaring itself.

I've been reading King for nearly 16 years. Of all his stories the one that got under my skin the most was Pet Sematary... the overwhelming sense of inevitability was so potent. And the Tower... oh man...the Tower, every step of the journey was amazing.
