Stephen King starter kit! Which Stephen King book should I read first? 📚

In this video, I'll run through a bunch of different Stephen King books that work as excellent starting points for all sorts of readers. This kit has scary books, dramatic books, heart-breaking books, books for younger readers and a few others too. I'm surprised that Carrie wasn't on the list. I think it conveys the feelings of teenage quite accurately. However, the first King book I read was Salem's Lot.

A friend at work lent me Salems Lot in May of this year. Loved it so much, I've since read the Dark Tower Series, The Stand, The Dead Zone, Firestarter, Insomnia, Eyes of the Dragon, Carrie, Night Shift and just finished The Shining an hour ago. Already have Dr. Sleep arriving tomorrow. I may be addicted....

I started with Carrie(wasn't my book at all), but after Firestarter, Christine and The Dead zone(mine favorite too) I was totally hooked.Just an idea for a video in the future - King books to read before starting the Dark tower series.

I've read about 10 Stephen King books, which is a lot of books, but not a lot of King at all! This is really helpful to know what to read next 😊
I've only read The Shining, Pet Semetary, The Green Mile, and IT from this list

I started reading IT after IT chapter 2 was released in theaters. But I never finished the book. I had a hard time getting into the book and I think it was because I saw the films for IT before I started the book. My first King book I completed was Pet Sematary. Then I just finished FireStarter. Now I’m currently reading 11/22/63. I own the books; IT, Pet Sematary, 11/22/63, The Shinning, Misery, Carrie, Cujo, FireStarter, and The Stand. I also own The Stand as an audiobook on the Audible app.

I definitely have a soft spot for The Dead Zone, particularly because of Johnny’s character, but upon rereads, the structure throws me every time.

It was great to hear someone singing the praises of Rose Madder. That book means a lot personally to me and I know that King isn't a big fan of it.

Eyes of the dragon was my favorite read when I was a teen, just went back through it...holy shit it so holds up. Still one of my favorite reads.

I just finished rereading the Dead Zone, and I get why it's your favorite! It didn't have to be scary to be an amazing story (Although some parts about Greg, and Frank were pretty dark, and gruesome) but damn what a book!

Misery. If you like books about writers and writing (and da SK woods are full of them) this is a great one. Darker and more in depth than the movie.
