Think about what she just said. Your monthly take-home salary is $4000 and your monthly expenses are also $4000. Where are you supposed to get money to save up $24, 000? 🤔

In 2023, the median annual wage for all U.S. workers was $48, 060, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics

I just googled it. The median income for a single individual in the USA is actually $37, 585. The average is $63, 795 I think she went with the average not the median, but the median is more accurate and close to reality of an American

After taxes, it's not 4k, it's 3500 because you have to included the average cost of insurance from your employer. It's higher if your a contractor or independently employed.

Rachel no. That number is incorrect plz read these comments and take them seriously. Us, my husband, and recent young adult children, our neighbors, our friends and everyone that I know in my church community is making between $45k-58k a year. The regular rents are an average of $2000k a month, the average car insurance is that of $ 800 a month, our phone bill is inexpensive at $125 a month for 5 lines, food is at $1200 a month for 5 adults, and on and on it goes… we can’t even afford to have health insurance nor get sick, or go for a doctors visit, it’s at around $60-150 per visit.

Rachel these are the real numbers, you must seriously rethink your information.

I’m so tired of so many influencers and rich people tell us how much are the “REAL” numbers…. Come on people get real numbers. Go to churches, meet with the real people, set up booths asking these questions, go out in the streets of the average city and find out the real numbers…
Get people to open up and share the reality of daily living.

I make 69k annually and even my monthly take home pay is not $4, 000. Where you make your money and the state taxes make a huge difference. Post tax is very close to $4, 000, but still not hitting it.

Thats where I lost some respect for Dave. He said if you arent making 100k you arent trying very hard. Hurt my heart. I work for a local hospital for 15 years and am at 30k.

I made 78k a year and after taxes, insurance and 401k I was taking home 4K a month. Not sure how she’s getting that number with 62k a year?

“If you’re spending all of that, then times that by 6…” how are you supposed to save an emergency fund if you spend all you make

I’m confused I make $62~k a year and my take home pay after taxes is NOT $4k a month. Are they not taking 401k contributions and health insurance premiums into consideration when coming up with their figures?

The Ramseys need to stop it with these crazy numbers. There are no cheap $5, 000 cars Dave, a Honda Civic costs over $30, 000 now. Rachel please know that not everybody lives in Tennessee, most States have income taxes that are high! A 100k gross salary is a 60k net salary, not 90k. The Ramsey Team needs training on how the world has changed for the median American.

That’s crazy. Considering inflation and how expensive things are how are you supposed to save that much?!

Your take home pay is not 48, 000 out of 62, 000 if you have health Insurance deductions and 401k plan.

This is so depressing to me because I am below that median income average. 😰😭

Everyone talks about the runaway inflation but nobody talks about how the median household income has declined the whole past four years. The. Whole. Time!!!
