Always a fun day to come across a new AA video on tha TUBE!

One thing to reiterate for viewers, not to cause any confusion, I’m running 5.8 on a M1 Mac Mini at home currently. Everything has been stable for the week I’ve had the machine thus far. Your comment about running the Dev build of 5.9 on INTEL was clearly stated certainly. Just wanted to let folks know that RT does indeed work just fine from my minimal observations on M1 machines…current as of the 5.8 version.

Secondly, the one difference I have noticed on my new machine is when I export to photoshop, it doesn’t open camera raw initially anymore. I like the crop tool as well as the calibration panel for quick color adjustments. I figure I don’t have a box checked in photoshop to bring it up currently? Can anyone else say that their machine behaves in this way?

Thanks so much for these! So far I've watched the one for setting up Mybase profile, the one about the three methods of lightening an image, and this one. Crazy how powerful a program (and free!) Raw Therapee is. I have a question about color spaces if you have a sec. If I'm pretty much exclusively planning on sharing my photos on the web only, should I work in ProPhoto and then convert to SRGB later, or start in SRGB from the beginning? The web doesn't seem to have a conclusive opinion on it. My thinking is that if I'm sure I'm never going to print anything then it makes sense to start in SRGB, and have that be my working color space. I'd love to hear your thoughts though!

Great - more of that soft and delicate image editing. The world is filled up with over sharpened, over colored and over contrasted images, i.e. the collective collection of extreme non-finesse images is monumental.

Finally, 5.9! The problem with Rawtherapee is the terminology has very little relationship to the function. Apart from that it's useful and it's free.

Every time I edit the exposure/color of a photo in RawTherapee and then close it, the next image in my file browser automatically has the same edits applied. How do I turn that off??? I can't find an answer anywhere!

Rawtherapee 5.9 does not support Canon CR3 file Meta data. Do I lose any quality by converting to .DNG files?

Hello Andy I have a question. In 5.8 Ive been using walvet levels-residual image to dodge and burn. It was very effective in my opinion. I could lift highligts, or darken shadows. As an expert could you check it this in 5.9 becouse i totaly dont understand how it works now haha. For me its kinda broken :)

What ICC you recomend to persons that dont work with LR o PS?, just RT, and Gimp sometimes (I have a Canon 800D, just in case the info is usefull). Regards

Great walk through. I've been using ART as I couldn't make my mind up other rawtheapee or darktables. I'm going to check to see if I can do this on ART 👍

Hi Andy I've looked everywhere to find out how to retrieve my Rew files from my camera into Rew Therapee not found any this sounds stupid I know lets all laugh at this old food (me) but i it as simple as plugging my Nikon D7100 in and will it come up in the folders bit I'm a Lightroom guy but had to get rid of it to much money now I've retired as I cant see a import bar. ? did say it a stupide Question regards Mike

Thanks a lot for this new video. As others wrote, It is highly anticipated.

What about *using GIMP* with the TIFF (16 - 32 bit) exported from RawTherapee 5.9?
In the past, you wrote you were not satisfied with GIMP but I don't remember your reasons related to not using these TIFF 16 -32 bits files for the final retouching 🙂
At present, the GIMP developers have released the 2.10.32 version which should work fine on Apple Silicon machines. On top of this, the high bit support should be improved with many bugs fixed as well.

As regards some future videos it would be great if you could cover some additional new feature of RawTherapee 5.9. For instance, white balance (algorithm: Iterative Temperature Correlation), new spot removal and so on :-)
