Many people were taught a lesson, real life isn't Hollywood. Arrogance, screaming and shouting and begging for camera attention are everything BUT leadership. Took some time, but he delivered. His entire career is a perfect example of growth and strength resulting in true, actual leadership that lasts a lifetime.

When Lio gets unfairly tackled the entire team goes ballistic as if it was their mother being hit. That kind of love, admiration, and respect cannot be asked for, ordered, or demanded, it can only be earned. And the way Messi has won the hearts of not just his teammates, but a big chunk of the entire sports world, is by far his most significant accomplishment, regardless of his countless accolades.
