I don’t know that Becky will see this, but Ikea’s Tradfri bulbs can be paired with the Philips Hue system. An affordable way to expand the Hue system.

As a swede, this was the most fun I had all day. Especially when I saw the Kärrknipprot word and burst out laughing hahaha. Poor Rachel, you did yor best!

Rochelle definitely killed it! She said begripa perfectly! You should have given her that point!!! Next time you need a native Swedish speaker to be the judge! 🇸🇪

Fun fact about the table Baggboda, it was originally called Cromi and was designed in 1971 by Karin Mobring. She was the first female designer at IKEA!

It's funny how all the items that they thought weren't typical of IKEA were super classic IKEA staple items back in the 70s-80s hehe. I swear everyone of my Swedish relatives had different versions of those in their homes back then.

As a swede I absolutely loved this video, and just seeing you guys try to pronounce the words was a great time. It's fun that you also decided to translate the words, but in true google translate fashion some words were translated a little wonky/ too literally; the main one being Ridspö which can be literally translated as riding stick, but it actually means horse whip- as in the whip you might use when horseback riding, not a stick that you ride. Also, Måla does translate to paint, but it's the action of painting, not paint itself; and Kärrknipprot is a plant in the orchid family, not swamp knotweed.

Edit: something else that is good to know about Ikea is that a lot of things are named after locations in Sweden, so Bondskäret (for example) isn't a word or thing, it's a small town; same with Sotenäs, Nissafors, and Baggboda (and probably some other things in this video, I just can't remember them all)

I LOVED Wendy as a guest! I actually didn't know of her before, but her energy was so fun and relaxed, I really enjoyed her dynamic with the other girls! Would love to see her back. 😘

I'm not a swede but we had to learn swedish at school in finland since finland has two official languages and the other is swedish, so hearing people try to pronounce swedish words is always so funny!
edit: rochelle should've gotten a point for begripa

It looks like IKEA. They have a whole line of floral fabrics like that and have forever. They usually have bright colorful stuff like that. i know everyone thinks of them as sterile white stuff but that's not really the whole picture. The textiles have always been insane prints.

I look at that little window on the ikea desk and wonder if I could waterproof it to make it a little terrarium to look at. I would have to drill into the glass in a few spots cause otherwise it would perpetually be covered in condensation.

Orrr... Kelsie could make a little miniature world in there.

Fun episode! The pronunciation contest made me think of Nick Lewis and his refusal to even try with IKEA product names.

Just FYI, my sister started shopping at IKEA while living in Europe in the 1970s, even driving to Sweden for shopping before it was widespread, and it was always pronounced “ee-Kay-uh.” Adjusting to the Canadian/American “I-kee-uh” was a challenge!!

This was SUCH a great episode!!! Loved the energy with Wendy, and a fantastic overview of cool IKEA products that I had no idea existed. AND: Rochelle was spot on with her pronunciation, even when you didn't give her the points. (She might secretly be Swedish! 💙💛💙)

There are some articles online on IKEA’s naming systems, definitely recommend reading! A lot of them are place names such as towns, parishes and lakes
