I agree with you about the trend to put form over function. As a person who suffers from back pain, I find that most modern sofas are unusable because the backs are so low that they offer no support at all.

The RIDSPO desk, i think it has a glass hole is for drawing. They had something similar and it was cool to use. You put light on the drawer and can use for sketching. You can personalize the hole too with sketches or some textile.

I think these comparisons fail to realize that anyone who would consider buying a bed for 650 dollars is going to compare it with other beds for 650 in different stores, not with beds for 100 at IKEA.

Ooh, the Persbol chair reminds me of an Ercol set my parents had. I loved it as a kid (though it wasn’t great for snuggling up in). We would take off the back cushion and sit behind the chair watching Dr Who from behind the safety of the “bars”.

This video went deep! Lots of work put into this and I really appreciate it

I think the idea of the glass panel on the desk is to be used as a light box for tracing

I must disagree with the generic "sofabeds are bad" comment. When I lived in a tiny apartment I had a sofabed from IKEA and it was one of the most comfortable sofas ever. As a bed it was meh, but it worked for me when I had guests. (If the guests were elderly I used the sofa and they got the bed)

When I saw the glass drawer of the Ridspö desk, I immediately thought that a light source hidden in the drawer would be a great way to copy drawings. I really like it :)

I was so surprised at 5:03 to hear you pronounce Holmsjö SO WELL. The SJ sound doesn't even exist in English. Love your effort to pronounce everything correctly 👏👏

Shopping at IKEA as at even high end stores we really need to look into the details of the item. When we can't find a cover for the chair we can go online such as Comfort Works. I also ordered covers from the UK. I have some IKEA furniture that has lasted 15 years. When we understand how it is created we can figure out how to give them longer life. I also have some of their lamps and artwork that have sold for more than I paid. I also appreciate being able to switch out legs to change the style. I've had a Tylosand sleeper for many years and have adjusted the design to fit into three different households. Still super comfy and a great sleeper.

I loooove my green Jattebo sofa! Also, such a relief to hear someone actually making effort to check how the names are pronounced. Some major interior design "content creators" can only aspire to your professional quality of videos.

The ‘Friheten’ corner sofabed is fabulous for gamer/tv families. Just pull out the extra bit, and the whole family can cosy up with their feet up. Mine has gotten a new life at another family after 10 years or so of use, and I bought a new one with a custom cover at my new house. It’s great!

I have had Ivar shelves for over 30 years (including cabinets, and I am gutted they have changed the cabinet type, instead of just adding a new cabinet type). Still 100% happy. Of course, unlike with Billy, you have to organise the books so they do not fall, but they can be dismantled and re-mounted...Moved 6 times since buying them.

Soderham is The most uncomfortable sofa. Big regret of mine. However I have repurposed the ottoman by ordering custom linen covers and wooden legs to replace the existing grey fabric and metal legs and it looks lovely in my living room. A large square wooden tray on top and coffee table transformation done!

I gotta disagree with you on the glass peekaboo in the desk. As someone with ADHD, I like a clean clear workspace, but when I put things away I forget they exist. I have clear drawers on my desk for this exact reason.

Malm dressers are the only ones I like as dressers from any brand. Perfect as his and hers and the size and depth of drawers are perfect for our family

One Ikea furniture item I've absolutely loved is the Idasen table top electric height adjust standing desk. I had been researching various manufacturers for a while as I really wanted an adjustable "desk" for my laptops and various hobbies. It was frustrating because the local stores that sell office furniture had some in their catalogs, but not in their showrooms. I live in the US, but happened to visit downtown Toronto, which had a small Ikea. To my delight, that showroom had several electric adjustable desks. When I got home, I ordered the one I picked out, and it did not disappoint. It's lightweight enough for me to push around and clean under, but has a sturdy feel with smooth operation

Hell's teeth Daniel! Thank goodness you posted this video because I had my eye on several of the products you mentioned as being not such a good buy! ❤
