so if I don't use Netflix or iTunes or at least I don't watch tv or any videos through iTunes....Apple TV is useless to me? Can I take a downloaded avi file from my mac and stream that through the apple TV and it will play on the tv? kinda pointless if it's only through iTunes account and netflix if that's all it can do.

Ty, I live and die by your videos for my iPhone 4S. Thinking about picking up the AppleTV 3G tomorrow. I like this video but can you do a How-To video on JB the AppleTV? Not sure if you can JB the new firmware that just came up but would be great if you can and most importantly go over the must have apps. I want to downgrade to just basic cable and use this instead.
