I still think the best ones are the 1999 Hasbro lightsabers. The retract all the way into the hilt. No lights and no sound but the blade disappearing completely is awesome.

I love what seems like just a cool dad nerding out over his passions, it's stuff like this youtube should be for!

On my 11th birthday, we went to Disneyland, and I built one of those plastic telescoping lightsabers at Star Tours. I took it apart after that, because we weren't going to buy it yet, but later my dad and brother went back there and bought me one with decorations that I wanted. I liked it a lot, but then one time when I was dueling with my brother, the emitter snapped off. It was fun while it lasted, though.

I remember when my cousin had that exact 1995 Luke lightsaber. I asked my parents incessantly for my own but they kept telling me "if you do this or that, then we'll think about it" and then they didn't deliver on it or give me a straight answer. I guess as an adult I have ebay now.

I've had this custom baselit rgb for about a year (got it from a comic book store) and I could never get it to work. It would register and respond when it was being charged but that was all it could do. After watching this video I began to wonder if it had a kill - switch that I just didn't know about. So at almost 2 o'clock this morning, I removed the chassis from the hilt for the first time. It's a baselit chassis but the software is labeled as a xeno.
Here's the kicker. Whoever had this saber last, the smartass didn't even put an SD card in the socket, which is why it doesn't do anything. So thank you Obi-dad for giving me an idea of what I might be up against.

I remember my trip to savi’s a few years ago. Made me fall in love with sabers, but never pursued collecting because of price and storage reasons. I live vicariously through these videos for the most part, but this is a great guide if I ever take the plunge again!

Killer video! Not only was this educational, but you made newbies like myself feel more confident in what we want to get. Major thanks my guy 🙏

This video is amazing (except for the fact that I already bought a lot of sabers 😐)

I have a neopixel lightsaber with a xenopixel soundboard already, but you have really shown me how much more there is to the lightsaber community. Just subbed. Great video, man!

The first lightsaber I ever got was the 2013 or 14 Obi-wan Kenobi collapsible blade. I got it from my dad when I was only 5 or 6. I still remember opening it up on Christmas morning, and I have it to this day!

This is the only channel I'm coming to for anything starwars 🥴 very informative and you don't seem to hide anything when it involves buying the Neopixle sabers (and the better ones too)

Didn't know lightsabers were real now beyond the telescopic ones released around the Episode 2 as a kid. This video told me everything I wanted to know. Thanks so much!

I recognise that this video took time to make. And hard work was evidently put into producing such a meticulous, profoundly thought-provoking video. My friend, a huge credit to you for enlightening us… us in this esoteric Star Wars/lightsabre community. Bloody brilliant!👏

Thank you for sharing, 👍

Believe it or not, I received my first saber long before I had seen any Star Wars content at all! A family relative got my brother and I some. We quite enjoyed them even though the context was foreign to us. While the lights and sounds faded over time, we continued to enjoy them. A few months after we watched our first Star Wars movie (A New Hope, of course), we built some lightsabers at Walt Disney World's equivalent of Star Traders at Disneyland. Those still work to this day, surprisingly enough! When I acquired a 3D printer, I made a few replica hilts just for fun. Last year, I purchased the Hacksmith Minisaber. I've found many times where it is useful as a tool, and a fun one at that. I have yet to buy one of the more expensive lightsabers on the market, so your video is quite useful!

I have been learning how to duel with lightsabers with wooden sticks and I have been hovering over RGB and NeoPixel for a while now. Thank you for the video I love that your passion is helping others for the pure joy of star wars and I will 100% get a NeoPixel saber!

Thank you for the quality video and the comprehensive walkthrough of lightsaber's retail history!

My first lightsaber was a cardboard wrapping paper tube. I taped a crisscross over the far end to make the whoosh sound when I swung the tube. My 2nd lightsaber was Luke's green Force FX that my boss gave me for Christmas. My 3rd was Rey's yellow saber that I bought from Dok Ondar's.
