Morse code! Have a look at DM780 and CwGet Morse code decoding programs side by side. They are decoding W1AW starting at 35wpm and ending at 10wpm. How can you best decode with DM780? See the two most important criteria for good decoding. I recommend Learning Morse code and then using this program. It will help as a tool. Don’t miss the end!

I'm an Amateur Radio enthusiast. I love the hobby and experimenting with radios, antennas and software. I have a lot of fun. On my YouTube channel I upload videos mostly on the Icom 7300 and Icom 7610 as well as Ham Radio software programs. I hope to inspire people to get involved in Amateur Radio.

Awesome video sir, I'm new to all digital and CW. My Elmer just gave me a old computer that I could use with my icon 7300 for digital modes. I have all mac's. I've been trying to get CW to decode with DM780 for like a week now, so glad I found your video, thank you. KN4GFP 73's

First of all, thank you for the video, it really is informative. I am facing some trouble connecting the 7300 with the DM780. Although it connects immediately with the HRD, then, when I try to launch the DM780, it tries strangley to use a different COM port and it does nt connect. (Error opening COM8 to send CW. Access denied.) So if there is a relative video, with guide lines it would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance, 73 de SV1SLB. By the way, what cable are you using? I just connect the 7300 with the laptop, with the same cable I use for the WSJTX (USB to that plug at the back of the 7300)

Thanks for the video about CWGet. I’ll give it a try! I used to be a 20 wpm Novice in 1972, and built up to 25 to 30 wpm. But after several decades of inactivity, my CW is now only 10 wpm and I struggle at 13 wpm. I want to build my CW speed back to 30 Aomori faster if that’s possible.

I haven’t been able to get DM 780 to transmit digital or CW following your configuration advice for the 7610. I don’t know why transmit doesn’t work with DM 780 and the Icom 7610. CW transmit works from the built in memories in the 7610. RTTY and PSK31 transmit works from the built in 7610 screen decode and a USB keyboard connected to the 7610 without the computer.

HRM detects my frequency and connects. I reload Windows 7 and upgraded it to Window 10. It still didn’t work. Maybe there’s a problem with my computers built in sound card or a problem with the built in 7610 radios sound card. I tired two different USB cables into the black USB jack on the back of the 7610 radio. When I tried using the blue USB jack, I couldn’t connect to the HRM software.

Is CWGET from DX soft? I want to make sure I am going to the correct site. Great videos. Thanks for your time doing this.

I know this video is 4 old but I am just getting into CW. I tried to download CWGet but can't seem to do it. There does not appear to be a video showing how to do it. I am looking for some help

I have a Dell Lattitude which I purchased solely to use with amateur radio. I am sorry I did. I have been having an impossible time trying to make it work with just about any amateur software. I am trying to use a USB connection from my IC 7300 to the laptop but the program seems to want to use the laptop microphone. I could try connecting the radio headphone jack to the laptop jack but I should not have to do that. If you can help me set up my radio and CW get, that would be great.

Ok I am a total newvie to translating I have cw get and go from my phone Jack from my Icom 7300 to my computer mic Jack and got it to see the signal. The problem is I keep geting stuff scrolling across the screen like line noise on a computer terminal. So I need some help for the best settings I can set up Cwget so I can get the best translation of code without the crapy line noise its just a filter ajustment but Ihave no idea what to set it to KG5CUO

I’m a relatively new ham but I’ve been around long enough to learn that you can get a lot of heat from the true blue CW guys if a workaround to CW is mentioned.

This isn’t a workaround as I’m in the process of learning CW. I want to be a real ham someday :-)

But, it has occurred to me that since machine CW can usually be read by a computer at high rates of speed it would be a great way to pass large documents over the radio quickly.

I know there are lots of other digital modes with error checking but they are usually much slower. Just a thought.
