All ships that have a Quantum drive have a Jump module the module is attached to the drive itself, snub fighters are the only ships that can not use a jump point.
And here is the lore behind it.
The first human to "jump" was Nick Croshaw when, In 2271, he modified his quantum drive and jumped through a wormhole into what is now the Croshaw system. Roberts Space Industries, spotting an opportunity, quickly developed their own jump drive called the QM-Core XII and sold it at exorbitant prices to billionaires and governments.

Two mechanics sought to bring jump drives to explorers, Tara Dilione and Alfonsus Carbrino. Working together, they researched jump drives and worked on jump ships until they realized that RSI hadn't developed a true jump drive, they had simply modified an existing Quantum drive into a Nick (Named after Nick Croshaw).

For the next 27 months, the pair worked, tested, and eventually released the "Tarsus" device in November 7, 2292. The Tarsus was capable of modifying any quantum drive into a jump drive safely and reliably.

Damn! I can’t believe they even had that much in the Tech Preview. I tried earlier with a group of 20 in a 890J but I don’t think our Pilot knew about the handshake. We sent it full speed and ended up getting pushed back and blew up. Thanks for the footage!!

Excited to see what the final art of this looks like! One of my wishlist items for this is that they lean into some cool AR (augmented reality) moving guidance stuff as you go though the entry gates.

The big catch is waiting for "entering_tunnel" to appear above the angle reading. The visual indication is good too. Otherwise, a reset of the QT process is necessary. We found that when it doesn't spool up with that suffix above the angle reading, it means someone else beat you to the queue or it glitched out. External views also seem to bug out the current gray wormhole placeholder, but inconsistently.

ngl, that black space after you used the jump point kinda reminds me of these lore-incidents with the first Frameshift Drives in Elite's universe, where you had a small chance of getting stuck in the hyperspace void forever

To answer your question: Jump modules are separate components that sit on top of the QT drives. If you look at a QT drive right now, there is an empty space above where the module will sit. The manufacturer’s name for the drives is Tarsus.

You only saw a small part of the tunnel because most of it is on the Pyro side. If you can get to the exact spot where the Pyro exit is into Stanton (kinda near MIC L2) then you may see some tunnel there.

In the fnial version of this, when ships are kicked from the jump tunnel, have they said if or how we will be able to reactivate it? Is it like a river where we can just hop right back in where we exited?

I feel like this spooling and aligning process is a great opportunity for campers. Not sure if that’s intended or not.
