Imagine living in a place where the horizon never ends, the terrain is dominated by vast areas of untouched wilderness, and the most common sound you will hear is quiet. This is Kazakhstan, an enormously large nation with an extremely low population density. Kazakhstan has a population of slightly over 19 million people, which leaves it a strikingly empty country that cries out for exploratioEnvision an enormous floating fortress that could function as a mobile hub for armed forces, relief efforts, and disaster response. This is not science fiction; it is the reality of the Expeditionary Sea Base (ESB), a crucial component of the US Navy's transforming strategy. The US Navy needs programs like the ESB that are flexible and versatile because threats across the world are becoming more diversified and unpredictable. The ESB provides previously unheard-of flexibility and capabilities in a time when conventional naval bases might not always be available or enough. And so, how this US Navy ship will change naval warfare in the future? Let’s find out!

What the ESBs are missing are defensive weapons like the Phalanx CIWS, RAM & ESSMs against anti ship missiles and aircraft and 25mm guns against small crafts. They also need more power since they can only travel at 15 knots.

Interesting concepts, certainly lots of options avail to build them to.

I understand the concept But why not use a decommissioned aircraft carrier (modified of course) in this role. It would be able to do so much more Just saying ✌️🇺🇲

I've worked in a number of large companies during my working years, and they all have their acronyms. BUT nobody ( to my knowledge) is more prolific than Uncle Sam. If you watch this video you will learn it even crosses over to abridged speak ( AB) like GAL...LOL

Why are all large navy vessels not nuclear powered to eliminate the need for so much fuel to be transported to them but supply ships and giving the ship more electrical power?

It's structuraly impossible to mount heavy guns right on the bow directly under the anchors, they would be taken out by the first heavy seàs and or the anchors

If I was younger I would be happy to serve in any of those

I'm surprised that they didn't go with a full flight deck.

The US Navy has a serious fetish with using acronyms.

The audio part of this program is abominable. It is painful to listen to. I had to fight back the urge to shut it off. There is no reason for the release of this video without it being edited.

I am not sure what message was being conveyed. Are these ships of value? Are they similar to the Littoral Combat ships? Are they combatants? Or, are they support platforms?

I was left with far too many questions. Was this the intent?

I don't see any defensive armament on these ships.
I certainly hope that the Navy is not putting these vessels out there bare-ass!
