📐I also wish I knew all of this information before I started my interior design course cause it’s really way more stressful and challenging than I initially anticipated😂😂. As I too also went into this thinking that it is interior decorating but I chose not to quit. There was a lot of misleading information when I once researched about interior designing so I appreciate that you are making such content so that other people will have the opportunity to clearly know exactly what they are signing up for.💕🇿🇦🇿🇦

“Maybe you’re in high school or maybe you’re younger”; umm mom of almost 4 here 😂 trying to pursue a career for the creativity stuck in my brain 😅 My mom rushed me into a school/job I ended up hating and I deeply regret not following my passion in creativity & art design. Like many I didn’t know what I wanted to do after high school & that’s why I just went with what my mother pushed me towards. Really hoping to teach myself so I have a career that I actually enjoy, especially when the kiddos are all grown up. You’re videos are so helpful, I’ve been browsing through so much content and yours is just the best!! Thank you!

This was really eye opening, now I know I don't want to be an interior designer, but an interior decorator 😂

So are you team architecture or interior design?😆
*There is a moment in the video where the sounds goes very quiet. Sorry about this, I missed it in my editing🤦‍♀️Put subs on for that specific part☺️*
edit: I also messed around with colour grading and put the saturation up (way too much) - hence why I look like an orange in this vid lol🍊

In North America USA there are certificate programs for Interior Architect that is CIDA accredited. I was looking for an interior design certificate program. I've been a Project Manager for 5 years now and I do all design planning in commrcial land development, interior design, HVAC, electrical and plumbing planning. I am remodeling my 2nd home and I do all my interior architecture which includes electrical & plumbing, design & decortating. I do all plot plan and renderings so I researched interior design and came across UCLA Extension Interior Architecture certificate program that is accredited and saw I can even go forward and apply for their Masters degree program, which the cert program count towards it. Love project management, but after watching your videos it sound so much more fun to do Interior Archecture.

I’m currently a philosophy major wanting to be a lawyer to have stability but art have always been my first love. You have no idea how your video helped me a lot in discovering what I really want. Hopefully, I can continue practicing my drawing techniques especially with a time consuming major. Thank you so much for this! 💕

You are SO right on when it comes to architects and their snobbery! Here in Southern California at some colleges, they combine the architecture students with Interior Design students for classes like AutoCAD and drafting. (Yes, they still make us learn drafting... which you would only use if your computer was down, LOL!) And the way interior designers are treated in those classes.... TERRIBLE. Many of the schools have expanded their interior design programs so that only interior design students will be in an AutoCAD class. We had to do a project when I was in my second year of school where the architectural students designed the outside of the building, and we designed the interior. By the end, there was HUGE bickering because they put windows in places that didn't make sense for interiors, they put spaces/buildouts that couldn't be utilized because there wasn't enough room to create any function for that space. So we all took their CAD documents, moved windows, doors, walls, etc and put things the way they should be. Ours looked nice, and actually made the exterior look better, too! So there's a bad relationship between architects and interior designers here. And YES, they do NOT want you calling yourselves interior architects. LOL! But that's the best way to distinguish the difference between a designer and a decorator. You did a great job explaining what the differences are. Of course we here just say, Architects create the outside of your building with 5-7 years of education, we create the inside of your building with 2-3 years of education (learning both the architectural side and the decorating side), and a decorator can place a nice pillow on your new couch... with no education at all. HAHA! Interior Design is freaking hard! It's not for the faint of heart. But once you learn it, you have some pretty powerful knowledge!

📐 I'm glad that I watched this! This was well explained, which is why I could finally watch an entire interior design video in it's entirety without skipping through. 🤣 I'm currently trying to enter the Interior Design world, after majoring in PTA (Physical Therapist Assistant); however, I always knew I wanted to do something creative/challenging. I was being encouraged by others to follow another path so that I could have a stable, high earning job. I'm 22 and am choosing what I feel passionate about. Passion vs money I choose passion. I had to let go of what others thought was best for me and what others thought about me choosing this path.✨️💕💜

I am an architect in the US and I agree with you on architects overlooking the importance of the interior. Part is it is the schools and modernist philosophy.

YES. People think interior design is putting furniture in a room or just picking fabrics when that is the last thing we do, and we barely do it. I am in school for interior design (architecture) and it is SOO much more. It is not easy, and very time consuming but I love it!!

I wish I saw this video 4 years ago before starting uni. I should've done more research about the teaching method of my uni and what I would learn. I studied interior architecture but would rather have done interior design. It was a lot of architecture and I feel like they didn't teach us a lot actually. I had one drawing lecture and one lecture about drawing conventions that I remember, 1 cad etc... But I will never stop studying and I will continue to go after my dream

Your video was so helpful! 📐😊 I just started my Interior Design program at my university and I heavily underestimated the workload 😓. Could you share your tips on how to study (including even note taking) and manage the workload and assignments? Thank you!!

Interior Architect from the USA here!having all kinds of uni flash backs after watching this, ha! I love this, great quick snap shot of design and the break down interiors/interior arch/ and arch.... as articulation is a huge part of the job too right?! I got into interior architecture (IA) for similar reasons, did’t want to work on one project for years, really care about the way a space “feels” more than building systems... all that major technical stuff. Hope you didn’t scare anyone off... but then again, they might not be suited for the industry if so 😸.
