Imagine a time when Winston Churchill was viewed as enemy #1 in the White House. 🇬🇧🇺🇸 During WWII, Churchill’s relationship with U.S. leaders was complex and not always friendly. While Churchill is often remembered as an ally, he also posed significant challenges to American interests. His political strategies, leadership style, and unyielding approach to Britain’s imperial ambitions often clashed with those of President Roosevelt. Despite their shared goal of defeating the Axis Powers, the two leaders had differing visions for the post-war world. Churchill’s influence was both a source of admiration and tension within the halls of the White House. Explore the nuanced and sometimes contentious alliance between the British Prime Minister and America’s wartime leadership. #WinstonChurchill #WWIIHistory #USA #WhiteHouseHistory #ChurchillAndRoosevelt #BritishAmericanRelations #WartimeAllies #PoliticalHistory #ChurchillLegacy #LeadersOfHistory

Churchill upheld the British tradition of causing discomfort in the White House.

If that's not the definition of a functional alcoholic, I don't know what is.

Churchill then lived past the age of 90, and health wise, FDR had nothing to lose anyway.

Churchill is that one friend who's considered the DDD (designated drunk driver)

Churchill was ordering 500 liters of wine from Bulgaria every year, from the unique wide melnik vine sort of grapes, from the litle town of melnik in Bulgaria, you can Google it to see how beautiful the place is

So wait, all this time we thought these were stoic and disciplined leaders, when in reality it was just 2 bros getting shitfaced looking at sprawled out maps on a coffee table just like “hey hey hey, what if we fight them on the beaches lol…”

Functional alcoholism. He requires it to function and avoid withdrawal symptoms, but otherwise reacts to it in his system as others might without it.
I think I’m that way with adderall. So he’s basically self-medicating a treatment for his withdrawal symptoms. Alcohol was technically allowed by medical prescription during prohibition.

"Mr Churchill you're drunk. And you are ugly, but in the morning I will be sober" 😂

Churchill ran pretty much entirely on hopium in 1941 and the best he got before pearl harbor was a bill called HR1776 from the US. I guess you gotta celebrate after that somehow.

I think Churchill would be drunk if he didn't drink. An easy misunderstanding.

Can you imagine him having a health check.
How many units of alcohol do you drink?
About 14.
A week?
No a day.

Just two bros planning a war to decide the outcome of humanity, while knocking ‘em back to some insane jams on the record player 😂.

It was said that Churchill couldn't possibly be an alcoholic, because no alcoholic could drink as much as he did and live.

Imbued with so much liquor Churchill was a workaholic and got more done than a sober person half his age with the huge wait of the nation on his shoulders;

It says in a book called “think and grow rich” something along the lines of: “stimulants and depressants are perfectly fine being used by a man in his career so long as they inspire him and energize him to complete his objective, and bring him closer to the spirit of success”

Edit: there’s an entire chapter on both drugs and alcohol, as well as sex transmutation for those wondering.

Churchill being an alcoholic is nothing new. He probably drinks more in a week than a normal person in a year.
