Their survival wouldn’t be a stake if they didn’t go into Ukraine in the first place. And if they got out and compensated them for all the lives and infrastructure lost and maybe put that 6 mile buffer zone they want on their own territory.

Putin's problem, he overly estimated the strength of his army/air force and severely underestimated the strength of the Ukrainian people.

Putin doesn’t get it, Russia is not a major force on the planet and hasn’t been for a very long time.

The reserves of labor force and production capacity in the economy are "practically exhausted, " the head of the Russian Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina said at a press conference. Now the economy is in a state of "overheating", the scale of which has become a record for at least the last 16 years. True, russian GDP is increasing by 5%, but only thanks state funded increase in arms production, while inflation is accelerating. At the same time, business has practically no opportunities to increase the production of goods and services.
